Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, the current world number one in men’s tennis, has got off to a successful start of his title defence at the Indian Wells ATP Masters tournament by defeating Bjorn Fratangelo of the United States 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the second round last night.

The No. 149-ranked American had a brilliant start of the match and won the first set convincingly, which proved to be all that he was able to do and Djokovic qualified for the next round after an hour and 46 minutes of play.

Djokovic will next face Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany, against whom he is 7-1 head-to-head.

The prize money at Indian Wells is USD 7.1 million.
