Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Executive Director for Europe and Eurasia Global Markets at the US Department of Commerce Skip Jones agreed on Tuesday that direct flights from Belgrade to New York are an opportunity for more investments.

They discussed ways of improving bilateral cooperation with the US through boosting trade, investments and development of cooperation in air transport, said a statement released by Mihajlovic’s ministry.

Jones said that there is potential for developing commercial cooperation, among other ways by making US companies more familiar with possibilities for participation in regional infrastructure projects.

Particular attention at the meeting, also attended by US Ambassador Kyle Scott, was devoted to cooperation in air transport because the start of direct flights to New York will not only boost the number of passengers, but also development of cargo transport.

Mihajlovic said that the already good economic cooperation can be improved additionally through further growth of trade, establishing links between US and Serbian companies and attracting new US investments.
