ISIS has been in existence for a decade but it took the world a long time to realise that it is a global problem, says Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
That is why it is very important to have partnerships and that major powers differentiate well between “what they call liberation movements, and terrorist groups that exist in some countries,” he said.
“These are all very relative terms as political interests in certain regions lie behind them, but terrorism is a global problem impacting all countries,” Dacic told a conference on security threats at the John Nesbitt University Thursday.
He reiterated that the “impacts of various terrorist acts against cultural heritage and the razing of ancient cultural monuments are fully reminiscent of the razing of Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo.”
“It is illogical to consider one group that is doing this to be terrorist, while another that is doing the same was supposed to be rewarded with (an admission to) UNESCO,” he said.
