In 1988, Brad Pitt was at the beginning of his career, and the famous Serbian director was searching for a young actor for his movie “The dark side of the Sun”. Among 400 candidates at the casting in an American company Metro Goldwin Mayer, Bota Nikolić chose Pitt, not knowing that he is about to become a globally known star.
Movie pilot: Expecting to cure their son, an American family comes to the Adriatic shore. Mediterranean days of a young man who has a rare skin disease pass by unexpectedly, until he decides to become someone else, or something that he really was because of a girl.
This was his first big role of Brad Pitt. Besides Cheryl Pollack and Guy Boyd, in the movie “The dark side of the Sun” also starred great Serbian actors. Namely, Pit played Milena Dravić’s son, but besides her Gorica Popović and Sonja Savić have also appeared in the movie.
Because of the war in the former Yugoslavia, a big part of this romantic drama was lost. The movie was officially published in 1997, and at the time, Brad Pitt was a great movie star.
After the movie ended, during 90’s, Brad Pitt visited Belgrade and a director Bota Nikolić who was the first person to give him a big role in his career.
He was also present at a football game of Red Star and said that he wished to buy a house in Montenegro, because he took long walks across Kotor and Perast during the breaks while filming the movie.
