Stampede of cheerful and humane Santa Clauses at the end of 2015, will run through the capital on the 27th of December. One of the most interesting and most favorite holiday events will begin at 1 pm, with starting position at Terazije plateau. Walking, jogging or running will be held across the Kralja Milana Street, and the prognosis says that the manifestation will gather a record number of participants and visitors.
Besides having a good time, another specification of this event is its humanity character. That is, money is raised every year and later passed to a specific person, society or institution. Last year, the raised means were donated to the Society of parents of children with malignant disease, and this year people will run for the heart of a young doctor and basketball player Miloš Nikolić.
Miloš Nikolić was born in 1985 in Leskovac. This perspective, young scientist received his PhD degree at the age of 30, he is employed as a researcher at the Institution For Biological Researches „Siniša Stanković“ and was an active basketball player until recently. At the beginning of 2013, Miloš was suddenly diagnosed with cardiac insufficiency, and the only permanent solution for his situation is heart transplant which costs are estimated to over 120.000 euros.
Under the slogan „Santa Clauses donate life“, the action of blood donation will be organized in collaboration with the Institution of Blood Transfusion in Serbia. From 10 am until 2 pm, a vehicle for the transfusion will be parked at the plateau in front of Hotel Balkan. Blood donation is just another act of humanity in which you can participate at the race, besides the action “Heart for the life of Miloš“.
An interesting and cheerful music program is being prepared for this year, and it will begin at 11 o’clock at the central stage.
The recognizable costumes and hats will be distributed at the same place, and racers will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the race. Besides the number of Santa Clauses and Mrs. Clauses, many famous artists and public figures from the areas of culture and sports will participate as well.
People of all ages participate in the Belgrade Santa Claus Race. At some of the previous manifestations, the youngest Santa Claus was only 5 years old, and the oldest competitor was 83.
Come to run or walk with us down the Kralja Milana Street and become a part of the traditional holiday event which celebrates humanity, love and life!
