Serbian Defense Minister Zoran Djordjevic adopted a decision Moday to draft in members of the Serbian Armed Forces (VS) to aid rescue efforts carried out by relevant local community bodies and the Interior Ministry Emergency Situations Sector in flood-affected areas in Serbia.
The VS members have been deployed on the ground in Lucani, Cacak, Novi Pazar and Gornji Milanovac, the Serbian Defense Ministry said in a release.
The release added that the VS members are also present in all municipalities where a state of emergency had been declared as part of emergency response teams and were monitoring the situation and coordinating activities on the ground.
