Captain of the women’s handball team of Serbia, Andrea Lekić, declared the world’s best handball player in 2013 by the International Handball Federation (IHF).

AndreaSerbian handball player, Andrea Lekić, received the most votes of the jury, media and the fans, who voted through the site IHF until 21st January.

“I feel amazing and needless to say I was impressed. To be named the best in the world by the International Handball Federation is the largest individual award that you can get in the career,” she said.

Lekić, who had started her international career in Ljubljana, was the key player of the Serbian team to win the silver medal on home ground at the 2013 World Championship. Additionally she won the EHF Champions League trophy with her former club Audi ETO Györ (Hungary).

The award for the best handball player in the men’s competition in 2013 went to Croat, Domagoj Duvnjak.
