In the family company named “Hera”, led by Vesna Jevtović and her husband, the tradition of making burek and other pastries is being kept for years. The original recipe and application of world standards in food preparation, have taken this company from a small town near Prokuplje, out the Serbian borders. Namely, Gornja Trnava is the place where pastries for American and European markets are prepared on a daily basis.
The exceptional quality and dedication to business are always heard about. That is how burek from a small family company ended up at a wholesale market. „Hera“ company was visited by the Ambassador Michael Kirby who explained that there is the interest in the production of healthy food from Serbia. „We are interested in the production of healthy food which is being exported to American market, and it is known that only healthy components are used during the production of this burek, even the special kind of probiotic yeast“, said Kirbi.
Good news for every company which produce food from healthy and natural ingredients is that there is a wholesale market for these products. It is more and more talked about the fact how harmful the unhealthy, revised and genetically modified ingredients are. Serbia is known after its home-made and healthy ingredients, out of which the products that are not harmful at all are being made.
The Ambassador highlighted that perk during his visit to Gornja Trnava. „By accepting the high standards in the food production which recommend you to the global market and by organization of companies like this, you have already made a step towards EU“, said Michael Kirbi and added that Americans have in plan to encourage family businesses in Serbia.
Burek with spinach and cheese from Gornja Trnava is sold in one specialized American store for now, along with other traditional products from other Balkan countries.
