The giant metal sculptures that used to adorn first Podgorica then Belgrade and Osijek were made by a young and talented Montenegrin artist. Danilo Baletić decided to make his childhood toys come to life by using scrap metal, namely old car parts and other waste.
The imaginative art student created these Transformers to catch people’s attention and send a message.
So, what’s the message?
‘‘Autobots are here in a mission to prevent evil Decepticons – and the people who support them – from destroying our planet and its exhausted resources’’, Baletić told the Daily Mail.
He confirmed to Davor Kibel, a photojournalist from Osijek, that all the rumours are true. Arnold Schwarzenegger really did buy his Transformers. However, Danilo did not want to disclose any more details on the transaction, especially the price.
This is not Schwarzenegger’s first “weird” purchase. He bought the tank he drove during military service. He was also the first civilian to buy a humvee.
And while the towering sculptures that spent months watching over Belgraders have a new Hollywood home, the biggest Transformer, the one 14 meters high and 25 tons heavy, still guards the city of Podgorica.
