The transition period in agriculture has been long underway, but Serbia is on the right track and, in the years to come, we can prepare well to enable our farmers to compete with European farmers, Agriculture Minister Snezana Bogosavljevic Boskovic told a conference on the future of Serbian agriculture Monday.

She said that her ministry will provide strong support to farmers.

In terms of regulations, huge work lies ahead for us but much has been done in the past, the minister said, adding that the rural policy has been harmonised and that a responsible approach is significant for implementing all EU rules, procedures and standards, Bogosavljevic Boskovic told the NIN Fokus conference.

A rural development strategy defining objectives and priorities was adopted in August 2014, and development programmes have also been prepared, she said.
