“With the slight improvement in weather conditions, the number of migrants has not risen significantly. For now, the figures are still significantly below average and, currently, there are no more than 1,000 to 1,500 migrants on the move from Presevo to Sid,” Vulin told Tanjug, adding that Serbia is ready for much larger numbers of migrants.
The fighting in Syria is intensifying, which usually causes the number of migrants to grow, Vulin said, adding that around 30,000 people are stranded on the Syrian-Turkish border.
“If Turkey lets those people through, they will reach us sooner or later,” Vulin said.
Vulin reiterated that Serbia will not be a parking lot for migrants or a zone for people who cannot move on any longer.
