Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said during a meeting he had with Head of the UNHCR office in Serbia Hans Friedrich Schodder in Belgrade Tuesday that Serbia would continue managing the migration crisis responsibly and in accordance with European standards.

Vucic and Schodder discussed the migrant crisis, plans for 2016 and UNHCR’s role in managing the crisis, the government’s media relations office said in a release.

Schodder said that UNHCR would continue to offer support to the Serbian government, not only when it came to migrants, but also with respect to internally displaced persons from Kosovo and refugees from Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina who now resided on the territory of Serbia.

The assistance in resolving the refugee crisis has to remain strong and proactive, said Schodder.
