Out of the 17 companies whose deadline for privatisation has been extended, the fate of 10 remains unresolved, but solutions for some of those companies could be found as early as in January, Serbian Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic has announced.

When the May 31 deadline expires, none of the remaining 10 companies will be protected from creditors by the state, the minister said.

“We have plans defined for each of those companies. Some will be complete as early as in January and we are looking for the most optimal legal solutions for the others to enable them to operate in the future as well if there are healthy parts in their businesses that can be sustainable,” Sertic said in a statement to Tanjug.

The Bor mining and smelting complex and the Resavica mines are the biggest problems, he said, adding that an invitation to bid for a strategic partnership will be issued in February.
