The unique WakEUp! festival is being held in Belgrade from 7th to 16th of December and it raises questions about the refugees and their uncertain destiny while in the same time it calls the world to show solidarity and humanity.

Festival WakEUp! was opened last night at Gallery 12 HUB at 19:00 with performance that will last for 48 hours. During these two days, city residents, people from our public life and passers-by will have the opportunity to read hundreds of personal confessions of refugees, as well as articles about their startling destinies.

The performance will be broadcasted live at www.actionwakeup.net and texts will be available in English and Serbian. Festival will be opened by visual artist Mirko Ilić and playwright Biljana Srbljanović. During WakEUp! festival, visitors will be able to watch several films created in the past decade that in different ways tell about refugees’ destinies, putting in front of our eyes the problems they face everyday!

Films will be screened at UK Parobrod on December 11 and 12.

The WakEUp! festival has been created on the trail of the idea of the last year’s Tolerance Festival, with a goal to move important social questions and clarify them from different angles.
