Guča brass festival is annually visited by several hundreds of thousands of people with guaranteed fun and partying till dawn.
The sound of Serbian trumpet has traveled the world and became the reason to visit, each August, this unique holiday of brass instruments in the village of Guča in Dragačevo. Long tradition of this instrument in Serbia has given one of the most famous symbols of Serbian music.
More than 50 years has passed since the first festival held in the churchyard of the church of St Archangel Gabriel when only four bands performed, and the festival in Dragačevo lures visitors with its unique atmosphere of great sound and fun. This massive summer music festival tops all the others, yet treasuring Serbian tradition and customs in a unique and original way.
Today orchestras from around the country, region and abroad, head for Guča to compete for the best orchestra and the best solo performer. The world renowned names and orchestras of Boban and Marko Marković, Fejat Sejdić, Dejan Petrović and Nenad Mladenović have participated in the competition. The festival is followed by numerous cultural and art programs, but surely the central event of the manifestation is the announcement of the winners.
The hustle of the competition is accompanied by numerous ethno and historical exhibitions. Visitors can participate in numerous many such as toast contest, traditional all-around competition or the selection of the most beautiful national costume. On top of all that, there are savory specialties of traditional Serbian cuisine that mustn’t be overlooked. So even if you’re not fond of this kind of music, the unforgettable experience will make you surely return next year.
How to get to the Guča brass festival?
If you go by car, from Belgrade to Čačak you go by Ibar motorway through Gornji Milanovac which is about a 180 km long.
On the road that by-passes Čačak there is a direction on the right to Guča. From Čačak to Guča there are 20 km.
If you have decided to take a bus to Guča, from the main railway station in Belgrade there are departures to Čačak every hour and from Čačak there are buses and taxis to Guča.

Don’t miss Zlatibor, one of the most beautiful mountains of Serbia with it’s many attractions. This mountain is 43 km from Guča, and if you decide to go there, with the road that goes through the beautiful areas, you should visit Mokra Gora and Drvengrad, the ethno village designed by film director Emir Kusturica.
On the road from Čačak to Užice, you can visit one more unique ethno village, called “Terzića avlija”.
