Russia wants to boost cooperation with Serbia at all levels, and is not giving up on securing diplomatic immunity for associates of the Russian humanitarian centre in Nis, it was said at a meeting between Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin in Moscow Thursday.

Rogozin and Dacic, who co-chair a Russian-Serbian intergovernmental commission, discussed progress made in cooperation in the tourism industry and the possibility of relocating the production of Russian auto parts from Turkey to Serbia and getting the Serbian construction industry involved in Russian projects, the B92 reported.

The centre in Nis is a humanitarian centre and has nothing to do with defence matters – now that the possibility of a large-scale demining operation in Palmira has come up, I see great possibilities for the Nis centre, but it has not been formalised yet, Rogozin said.

We think that the signing of an agreement on the status of its associates should be accelerated, he said.

Earlier in the day, Dacic also met with Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu to discuss military-technical cooperation, training for Serbian military personnel in Russia and procurement of Russian arms.
