Serbian Minister of Construction Zorana Mihajlovic toured on Sunday the Ljig-Preljina section of Corridor XI, which sustained minor damage from flooding, and said this 40km-long highway would be opened by the deadline, August 25 this year.

“All available machinery and people are on alert in entire Serbia. Around 2,200 people, or the entire workforce of road maintenance companies, both dometic and foreign ones, stand ready to provide assistance if need be,” Mihajlovic told reporters.

Mihajlovic toured the entire route from Ljig to Preljina with Director of Corridors of Serbia Dmitar Djurovic and surveyed the most critical point in Brdjani near Gornji Milanovac, where a flood tore down the scaffolds from a bridge under construction.

“Luckily, the bridge did not fall,” the minister said, adding that it would be completed in May.
