The gathering of the kayak-tour participants took place symbolically at the “Barakuda” splav (floating river club) – at the place of the encounter of the Sava and the Danube.
Kayaks were tied to a dock, and judging by the ambient and wonderful view of the Danube and the Great War Island, we knew that there’s a spectacular adventure awaiting us in the company of herons.
We were all given lifejackets and we boarded the kayaks. Despite not having any experience in rowing, we easily managed to overcome waves on the Danube and we surrendered to the new experience of the Ušće (Confluence of the Sava and the Danube).

Possibility to dictate your own sightseeing pace, along with comments by the group guide, provided us a unique experience of Belgrade. The pleasure will be even greater after you stop rowing and you let yourself be guided by the Danube with occasional “smiles” from your new neighbors from the Great War Island.
This “Belgrade adventure” is a part of a new tourist offer of the city of Belgrade that aims to promote Belgrade from an entirely new and yet unseen perspective. Tourists and all interested Belgraders who would like to enjoy the rivers in a new exciting way and beautiful view of the city from beneath the bridges, greeted by various rare bird species inhabiting the Great War Island, have two kayak tours on their disposal.
“Kayaking around the Great War Island”, a mysterious place in the heart of the nation’s capital, will bring you closer to discovering the rare bird species living here by surrendering to a surreal vicinity of wilderness. This kayaking tour is organized every day at noon with the starting point at the “Barakuda” splav.
Exploring this “Belgrade’s jungle” you will be taking a break at Lido, where you will have a chance to take a swim, relax and enjoy the sandy beach with a beautiful view of Zemun. The tour continues downriver passing by this “wilderness” on the island and it finishes just where you set off.
Stunning view from the river passing beneath the bridges of the city’s last century architecture on one river bank and modern nightclubs on the other bank was till now a privilege of a few. Now this adventure is at your disposal. And as our bridges bring closer the old and the new part of Belgrade, the kayaking tour “6 bridges on the Sava river” will be connecting the Block 45 and Ušće. Each day at 17 o’clock you will have the opportunity to raw and enjoy the sunset on the river.
“Wild Serbia”, in cooperation with the Belgrade Tourist Organization brings you this adventurous and active kayaking tour till the end of September. The unique character of this gathering is spending time with your co-rowers during a group tour that we took ourselves so we’re inviting you to experience it.
