French film director Jacques Audiard received the Future Films award at the Kustendorf Film Festival in Drvengrad on Sunday after a brief homage in the Cursed Yard film theatre.
Handing out the award to Audiard, director Emir Kusturica noted that Audiard and Kustendorf are on the same frontline in the fight for auteur film.
Moved by the unique recognition, Audiard expressed his gratitude for the award, describing it as special because it comes from Kusturica.
All of us here love film – I have a feeling that authors communicate through their films, Audiard said after receiving the award.
