The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has urged Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic not to sign a decree on the promulgation of a law on the ratification the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the NATO Support and Procurement Organisation (NSPO) on Logistic Support Cooperation.

In an open letter to the president, the DSS also calls on him to use his authority as directly elected president to ensure that the bill is withdrawn from further procedure in the parliament and in that way prevent “unforeseeable harmful consequences that would be caused by its entry into force.”

Observing that on December 26, 2007, the Serbian parliament adopted a resolution by which Serbia declares as military neutral, the DSS said that the bill was “bringing NATO to Serbia without a formal entry of Serbia into NATO, and placing Serbia in an anti-Russian military alliance.”
