SUMMARY:Huchen Days
DESCRIPTION:The “Huchen Days” manifestation takes place on July 7th and 8th in Bajina Bašta. \nIt’s a Huchen and Grayling fishing competition\, including the competition in preparing fish soup. \nThe manifestation also includes the exhibition of kids’ art works and the panel on the Drina River. \nFishermen will be competing on a 45 kilometers long trail from Perućac to Bačevac. \nThe winner gets the title of “the King of the Drina”. Beside the fishing competition\, the popular “Drinski kotlić” (Drina fish pot) will also gather the teams from around the country in order to compete in preparation of fish soup. \nThe motto of the manifestation is – clean river bank and the Drina rich in fish.

SUMMARY:Days of Drina regatta in Ljubovija
DESCRIPTION:Days of Drina Regatta is a manifestation organized from July 7th to July 15th in Ljubovija. The event will be opened with the “Malinijada” (raspberry Festival) at Lukića brdo (Lukića hill)\, followed by the “Skobaljijada” (sneep fishing competition) on the Drina in Crnča. \nThe regatta includes numerous sport events – football and tennis tournaments\, plays for both children and grownups\, as well as numerous exhibitions. \nFamous Serbian singer Miroslav Ilić will perform with orchestra on Friday\, July 13th\, just before the race. There will also be fireworks after which the 40 kilometers race from Rogačica to Ljubovija will begin. \nThe Drina regatta includes unforgettable fun on the most beautiful part of the Drina River accompanied by brass orchestras that will be entertaining the participants. \nParticipants and visitors will enjoy the concert of “Acapulco band”\, and the foam party will be organized on July 14th.

DESCRIPTION:The famous Croatian singer Massimo Savić will perform on July the 6th at the Bitef Art Cafe Summer Stage at Kalemegdan in Belgrade. \nHe and his band will surprise the Belgrade audience with a three hours’ performance. \nMassimo’s New Year’s concerts in Sava center have become a tradition in Belgrade. \nHowever\, the Belgrade audience will have the opportunity to see him performing in a slightly more intimate club atmosphere at the tennis courts at Kalemegdan. DESCRIPTION:The 37th International Festival of monodrama and pantomime will take place from the 5th till the 8th of July at Pinocchio Theatre in Zemun. SUMMARY:Japanism
DESCRIPTION:The “Japanism” Festival is being held from July 5th to July 8th in “Dom omladine” center in Belgrade. \nThis is the only festival in the region dedicated to Japanese pop culture – comic books\, animation\, cinematography\, fashion\, and everything representing the modern pop culture in Japan. \nThe Festival is organized by the Association “Sakurabana”\, “Dom omladine” in Belgrade and the Embassy of Japan\, and is supported by the city of Belgrade. \nThis year’s theme of the exhibition and the Festival is Fantasy – dragons and elves\, knights and ninjas\, spells and superpowers\, pirates and monsters\, and anything else that complements the vision of the Japanese fiction. \nThe idea is to promote young talented authors who have no opportunity to express elsewhere. In addition\, the goal of this exhibition is to educate visitors about various aspects of this far culture and this different world. \nDebates\, lectures\, film screenings\, fashion shows\, exhibitions by local authors\, an exhibition of photographs from Japan\, tournaments of video\, card and board games\, and martial arts workshops will be organized at the Festival. \n“Japanism” will be closed on July 8th at 5 pm in the Grand Hall of “Dom omladine” with a unique masked ball “Cosplay”. It will present numerous costumes inspired by Japanese anime\, films\, series and games\, and the popular Japanese music will be played. The idea is to present a character in the best possible way\, with a costume\, presentation\, speach or a performance. \nLast year’s “Japanism” was visited by 5\,000 people during 4 days of the festival.

SUMMARY:Civil Modernism and Popular Culture
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade\, at the Gallery-Legacy of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković (Rodoljuba Čolakovića St. 2)\, presents the exhibition of art works entitled “Civil Modernism and Popular Culture” from July 4th till September 3rd. The exhibition is organized in order to point out the role of modern and fashionable in the construction of civil identity of the Serbian society. \nBy the end of World War I\, the Serbian civil society went through a proces of rapid growth\, modernization and Europeanization. The new style of urban population could be seen in public spaces but even more at the places for entertainment. \nThose were the indicators of new intrests\, modern and fashionable events\, as well as one different lifestyle and recreational activities. The elite does not offer us the most realistic image of a society\, instead its value system is best observed through mass culture. The exhibition will highlight the interweaving of these two cultures. \nThe exhibition is presenting about 50 art works (paintings\, drawings\, posters\, photographs\, films…) of numerous authors: Paja Jovanović\, Sava Šumanović\, Petar Dobrović\, Ivan Radović\, Miloš Golubović\, Zora Petrović\, Vasa Pomorišac\, Ivan Tabaković\, Natalija Cvetković\, Bogdan Šuput\, Mladen Josić\, Kosta Hakman\, Milan Konjović\, Milena Pavlović Barili\, Veljko Stanojević\, Dušan Janković and others. \nThis exhibition premiered in 2011\, when it was declared the best exhibition of the year in Serbia by the Association of Art Historians. \n  \nPhoto: www.msub.org.rs

SUMMARY:Beach volleyball European championships
DESCRIPTION:Serbia and Novi Sad host this year’s European Championship in beach volleyball. The tournament is being held from the 4th to the 8th of July\, at the “Štrand” beach in Novi Sad\, where the best men’s teams will compeat for valuable prizes and will throw a great event for all spectators. \nThe entrance to the tournament is free. \nThis is the second consecutive year that the Company Vip mobile and the Volleyball Federation of Serbia are organizing the prestigious CEV European Championship in beach volleyball – Masters Novi Sad 2012. 87 teams from 29 European countries applied for the competition (Austria\, Belgium\, Belarus\, Bulgaria\, Croatia\, Cyprus\, Czech Republic\, Denmark\, Estonia\, France\, Finland\, Germany\, Greece\, Holland\, Hungary\, Italy\, Latvia\, Norway\, Poland\, Portugal\, Russia\, Serbia\, Slovakia\, Slovenia\, Spain\, Sweden\, Switzerland\, Turkey and Ukraine). \nAt this year’s competition Serbia will have 6 men’s teams. \nThe youngest ones will also have great time. DESCRIPTION:The World Press Photo Exhibition will take place from 3rd to 17th of July in the Studio M in Novi Sad (Ignjata Pavlasa Street\, 3)\, under the auspices of the Royal Netherlands Embassy\, exhibiting this year’s winning photos. \nThis year the Exhibition will present 160 winning photos from around 100 destinations from around the world. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the first winning photo of the Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda – the portrait of a veiled woman holding a wounded relative in her arms after a demonstration in Yemen\, which was published in the “New York Times.” Also\, visitors will have the opportunity to see the winning photos in all nine categories. \nThe World Press Photo Exhibition is a unique traveling exhibition of the winning photos of the annual press photography contest organized by the World Press Photo\, a nonprofit organization from Amsterdam. The international jury composed of 19 members elected the best photos in nine categories. DESCRIPTION:The 6th Leskovac carnival will take place on the streets of Leskovac from 3rd to 7th of July with rich program of carnival parades\, costumes\, music and over 150\,000 visitors. Visitors of the festival will have opportunity to hear works of legendary authors such as J. S. Bach\, F. Mendelssohn\, F. Liszt\, K. Debussy\, but also the works by contemporary composers performed by the most significant organists on the music scene today. The Festival will be held at The Blessed Virgin Mary’s Cathedral in Hadži Milentijeva Street 75\, from 2nd to 12th of July. \nThe guest from England\, William Whithead \, will present himself at the grand opening of the Festival\, performing the works of J. S. Bach\, F. DESCRIPTION:The traditional 37th art colony and manifestation Sopoćanska viđenja will take place from 1st to 15th of July near the Sopoćani monastery near the town of Novi Pazar. The manifestation is organized by the Cultural Center Novi Pazar. \nThe art colony Sopoćanska viđenja is among the significant art manifestations in the country. It has been organized every year in July since 1975. The colony takes place near the Sopoćani monastery neat the town of Novi Pazar and it gathers prominent artists from around the country. The manifestation includes art colony\, school of classic painting techniques and the symposium of literal and art critics. \nThe art colony gathers prominent artists who are unique by their artistic concepts\, technique and different in their artistic choices. The school of classic painting techniques is also organized during this manifestation. This school is organized in order to teach painters the ways of copying the ancient medieval fresco-painting. The symposium of literal and art critics will take place by the end of July on the topic “Tradition and modernity”. \nThis art colony is organized every year by the Cultural Center Novi Pazar and it introduces significant cultural\, and above all artistic\, dimension to the region of Novi Pazar.

SUMMARY:Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world
DESCRIPTION:The artifacts found at the oldest urban settlement in Europe will be exhibited in the Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade till October. \nThe exhibition “Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world” will be opened for visitors in the Atrium of the National Museum till October\, presenting the artifacts found at the site of the oldest urban settlement in Central Balkans. \nThis site in Serbia was discovered after a decade of archeological explorations – the archaeological site of Kale\, in Krševica near the town of Bujanovac. \nNumerous remains of buildings\, furnaces\, pottery\, as well as parts of unique system of water supply from the 4th century B.C. were found at the surface of 5 acres. The entire necropolis was organized according to Greek models\, and it was inhabited during the time of Alexander the Great. \nPieces of pottery exhibited in the National Museum are well preserved\, and they all have stamps of workshops from across the Aegean\, Thasos and the city of Menda in Halkidiki. \nThis site is unique in Europe not only for the traces of the era of Alexander the Great\, but also the traces of the Celts were also found here. They lived here by the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd century A.D.

SUMMARY:The Merry Race
DESCRIPTION:The Marry Race – sport\, eco\, tourist and popular manifestation\, will be organized on July 1st on the Ibar River. The Race is organized by the kayak club “Ibar”. \nTraditionally this Race has been organized since 1990 every last week in June\, and the number of participants has been increasing lately reaching the number of 10\,000 local and foreign participants. \nThe gathering of the participants will start several days before the race beneath the medieval city of Maglič\, 25 kilometers from the city of Kraljevo. \nCampers will come from around the country and the region to spend several days surrounded by the beauties of untouched nature. Maglič will play host to numerous parties and Kraljevo will host concerts and different sport and recreational events. \nBut everyone will be waiting for Sunday – the day that will be remembered by every participant in the Marry Race. The trumpet orchestra is also an essential part of the competition. \nRafting on the Ibar River from the medieval city of Maglič will be interrupted only for a traditional bean lunch in Mataruška Spa. Many boats and rafts will finish the race here\, only the most persistent ones will continue the race to Kraljevo. \nOn that occasion all kinds of vessels\, mostly rafts made of different materials – plastic bottles\, metal barrels\, styrofoam\, but also the more serious rafts made of wood and metal\, can be seen on the Ibar River.

SUMMARY:Drina Regatta for People with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:The fourth Drina Regatta for People with Disabilities will be organized this year on June 30th and July 1st with the motto “Everything is Possible”. \nThe unique manifestation of this type in Europe will be organized two weeks before the Drina Regatta. This year the Drina Regatta for People with Disabilities will welcome guests from around the world. \nThe manifestation will include the race\, lunch with trumpet orchestra\, different sport games and other activities. \nThe goal of this manifestation is equality and tolerance among people\, regardless of physical handicap. \nDuring two days of the regatta participants can expect lots of fun\, friendly gatherings and relaxation on the beautiful Drina River. The camp is being specially built for this manifestation while a campfire\, recreation activities and fun will make the camp atmosphere more interesting. \nOn the second day\, participants will have the opportunity to take a boat ride from Perućac to the confluence of the Rača River into the Drina\, on the most beautiful European river. The program will be finished with lunch in the camp. The goal of this manifestation is to promote tolerance between people. \nThe organizer of this manifestation is Sport and Tourist Center Bajina Bašta.

DESCRIPTION:The gastronomic and cultural manifestation “Fish Fest” will take place from June 29th to July 1st on the plateau near the Nebojša Tower in Belgrade\, as one of the central manifestations of the International Danube Day in Serbia. \nThis festival was created in order to remind visitors of the importance of the Sava and the Danube. The central event will be the competition in preparing fish soup. \nGuests from Croatia – representatives of the Chefs Association of Mediterranean and European regions from Split will also present their skills\, as well as local restaurants and famous wineries from around Serbia. \nVisitors will also be able to try their luck in fishing competition\, while numerous writers\, actors\, singers and all lovers of river and fish specialties will participate in the side program. \nMusic program will be organized every evening. Local bands Gama\, Đura i mornari\, Apsolutno romantično will perform on Friday\, June 29th\, on Saturday – Nick Drag\, So sabi\, Witch one\, Đura i mornari and Garavi sokak\, while the bands O đila\, Gama\, So sabi and Denis i Obule will close the festival. \nThe festival is organized by the Association “Danube in the heart” and Chefs Association of Mediterranean and European regions from Belgrade.

DESCRIPTION:The 10th traditional exhibition “Photography Days in Serbia” will be held from June 28th to July 1st at the House of Culture in Čačak. DESCRIPTION:The 39th International Festival of Alternative and New Theater – INFANT will take place from June 25th to July 3rd in Novi Sad. 17 performances will be played at the festival. \nTheater companies from Slovenia\, Bulgaria\, France\, Hungary\, Belgium\, Russia and the USA will present themselves to the audience\, and the plays will be played at the Serbian National Theatre\, the Catholic port\, the Theatre of Youth and the Novi Sad Theatre. The festival affirms multiculturalism as joint work\, respecting and understanding of differences. \nThe plays that will mark this year’s INFANT festival are “ASA – Average Speed of Answer” performed by the Bulgarian “Derida Dance Company“\, that covers the issue of finding modern man’s intuition in the era of information society. The play “Basse dance“ performed by the Hungarian company “Hodworks” consists of the dances characterized by strict movements and rigorous schedule of music. \nIt is also worth seeing the monodrama “Mandicmašninu”\, by the Slovenian “Via Negativ” company\, in which one actor plays 38 roles. \nThe INFANT Festival is organized by the Cultural Center of Novi Sad.
