SUMMARY:Tvrđava teatar 2012 (Fortress theater)
DESCRIPTION:This year’s ambient theater festival “Tvrđava teatar” (Fortress Theatre) is being held from July 11th till July 20th under the slogan “Pan teatricum”. \nPlays created in a variety of modern\, authentic directorial approaches and manuscripts\, and based on texts of all genres of drama in the time span of half a millennium\, will be performed at the Smederevo Fortress under the clear night sky. \nThe play “Transition” performed by the theatre Pan opticum from Germany is opening the Festival on July 11th. \nIt is being followed by the plays “Kanjoš Macedonović” by the Belgrade National Theatre\, “Noć u kafani Titanik” (Night at the Titanic pub) by the theatre from Kragujevac\, “Zbogom SFRJ” (Goodby SFRY) by Atelje 212\, the play “Bunar” (Well)\, “Višnjik” (The Cherry Orchard) by Chekhov and “Ja sam vetar” (I am the wind) by Jun Fose and directed by Stevan Bodroža. \nAwards for the best play\, direction and actor will be awarded at the festival. \nThe Festival also gathers young people from France\, Germany and Serbia who will be working with the French director Alban Varet on the international youth production of street theatre on the theme of cultural diversity as a wealth of European identity. The play is a part of the project IDEAL supported by the European Union through the program “Podrška civilnom društvu” (Support to civil society). \nPlays will be performed at the Small and the Big Town at the Smederevo Fortress and at Republic Square. SUMMARY:The Wreath of Vršac
DESCRIPTION:The International Folk Festival “The Wreath of Vršac”\, a place of gathering of numerous international ansambles\, is being organized in the town of Vršac that lies at the foot of the Vršac Mountains. \nThis year’s anniversary 15th International Folklore Festival “The Wreath of Vršac” will be held from July 11th to July 15th 2012 at the Town square in Vršac. \nThe Festival will be opened with a grand parade at 18.30 after which a rich festival program and the opening of the Festival at 20.00 will follow. This year the Festival will introduce ensembles from 10 countries\, including Mexico\, Indonesia\, Tunisia\, Spain\, Turkey\, Bulgaria\, Canada\, Republika Srpska and Serbia. \nSince founded in 1993 the International Folklore Festival gathered about 200 ensembles from around the world and it is the meeting place of many cultures. The festival was founded to preserve the tradition of folk songs and dances. The festival consists of competitive programme\, review programme and accompanying manifestations. \nSo far\, in addition to numerous ensembles from the country and the region\, guests from distant countries like Mexico\, India\, Sri Lanka\, Tahiti\, as well as France\, Spain\, Russia\, Poland\, and many others had a chance to show its culture and traditional dance and music to the local audience. \nIn addition to the main festival program\, the manifestation is followed by the Ethno Fair and a series of events – concerts\, exhibitions\, lectures\, taking place at various locations in the city. “The Wreath of Vršac” is an important festival of traditional dance and music\, as well as a unique opportunity for the encounter of cultures from around the world and exchange of experiences. The festival is organized every year by the Municipality of Vršac.

SUMMARY:Tesla's vision of internet
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition named “Tesla’s vision of internet” is being held in “O3one” gallery in Belgrade from July 9th till 13th of the same month\, in honor of the 10th of July\, the birthday of Nikola Tesla\, one of the greatest minds of the XX century. \nIn 1900. Nikola Tesla has created a project called “World system”. In it’s 12 items\, using technical phrases of the time\, he described what we know today as wireless interet\, mobile telephony and GPS. \nIn 1908. he described it in more detail in “Wireless Telegraphy & Telephony” magazine\, in the article named “The Future of the Wireless Art”. \nSome mobile phone companies have\, in the past couple of years\, used Tesla’s prediction of the future of communications given to “The New York Times” in 1909. and also published by “Popular Mechanics” magazine in the article named “Wireless of the future”\, as his vision of smartphones. \nNonetheless\, when everything Tesla said and wrote in the beginning of the XX century is taken more comprehensively\, it can be concluded that his words speak more about the present day technology that unites all the aspects of communication and transfer of information – internet\, regardless of any specific device that makes it happen. \nThe idea of “Tesla’s vision of internet” exhibition is to show the ways in which all the things Tesla mentioned are available to the modern internet user – whether using a computer or a mobile phone. \nThe author of “Tesla’s vision of internet” is Lazar Bošković\, a multimedial author from Belgrade\, and the project is so far consisted of the exhibition and corresponding web site. Design of tzhe exhibition is the work of Dušana Vojnova from “Orange” studio. \n“Tesla’s vision of internet” exhibition is opening on July 9th\, 8pm\, in “O3one” gallery in Belgrade. SUMMARY:Esma Redžepova\, concert
DESCRIPTION:The great Macedonian singer Esma Redžepova will perform on July 8th at 8.30 pm on the Summer stage at Bojčin forest\, as part of the “Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer) festival. \nThis “Gipsy from the city of Skopje”\, as she calls herself\, is a great humanitarian and songwriter. During her long career Esma has performed in around 9\,000 concerts in 30 countries. \nShe has fostered and raised 47 children\, and she won numerous awards for her humanitarian work. \nRedžepova started her career at the age of 14\, after having won the competition for talents at the Radio Skopje\, and then she went on tour with her band led by Esma’s future husband\, Stevo Teodosijevski. She published 586 songs and was a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Peace. \n“Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer) festival is opened on the Summer stage in Bojčin forest. The Festival will run until September 23rd and will have 43 programs\, on Saturdays and Sundays. Program will include all kinds of musical performances\, from classical to pop\, rock\, ethnic music\, theater plays by various Belgrade theaters and theaters from around Serbia. \n

SUMMARY:Carnival of Vrnjci
DESCRIPTION:One of the largest tourist manifestations in Serbia\, after Brass festival in Guča and Exit festival\, the Carnival in Vrnjačka Banja is organized from July 8th till July 15th. \nDuring this traditional carnival\, Vrnjačka Banja turns into one big stage with masked balls\, exhibitions\, concerts\, plays and sport events. \nThe central event is the Great International Carnival Parade. Numerous carnival troops from around the world guarantee great fun and true festival spirit. \nYear after year\, this manifestation gathers more and more participants from the country and from around the world. \nIt is expected that this year the traditional carnival parade will gather the largest number of participants from the country and from abroad\, and the bands such as “Riblja čorba”\, “Vampiri”\, “Zemlja Gruva”\, singer Aca Lukas and the finalists of the Serbian edition of the “I have a talent” show and “The First Voice of Serbia” will also perform at this manifestation. \nMoreover\, DJ parties till early dawn will be organized every evening. \n“Carnival of the festivals” program will also include the “Festival of popular music” that gathers prominent names from the popular music scene. \nCarnival of Vrnjci has been awarded the “Tourist flower” award for the best tourist event by the Tourist Organization of Serbia with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Tourism. \nLast year\, the Carnival was visited by more than 250\,000 visitors.

SUMMARY:Belgrade Boat Carnival
DESCRIPTION:The 9th Belgrade Boat Carnival is taking place on July 7th\, under the slogan “Love on the rivers”. \nVisitors of this unique manifestation will have opportunity to see a parade of decorated vessels that will sail from different Belgrade marinas\, acrobatics on water and lots of fun on the beach. \nThe traditional Belgrade Boat Carnival promotes the nautical tourism in the capital\, greets the tourists who visit our city by boat and dedicates this carnival to the Sava and the Danube\, and their confluence\, the symbol of our city. \nAnother slogan of the carnival is “At the happy buoy” and it is dedicated to the buoy set at the very confluence of the Sava into the Danube. \nHere dozens of European rivers join the Sava and flow into the Danube. \nFree cruises on boats “Kornjača” (Turtle)\, “Beograd 25. Maj” (Belgrade May 25th) and “Hrabro srce” (Brave heart) will be organized for all visitors from 5 to 8 pm. This is the unique opportunity for visitors to participate in the carnival\, alongside the carnival boats. \nTour departures are organized every half an hour at the Beton Hala Waterfront Center. \nVisitors will have the opportunity to charge their mobile phones only by using solar energy – on the “Strawberry tree”\, and they will learn about recycling and the importance of protecting the environment. \nThe program includes several concerts\, lottery and you can even send your message into the sky in a helium balloon. SUMMARY:Huchen Days
DESCRIPTION:The “Huchen Days” manifestation takes place on July 7th and 8th in Bajina Bašta. \nIt’s a Huchen and Grayling fishing competition\, including the competition in preparing fish soup. \nThe manifestation also includes the exhibition of kids’ art works and the panel on the Drina River. \nFishermen will be competing on a 45 kilometers long trail from Perućac to Bačevac. \nThe winner gets the title of “the King of the Drina”. Beside the fishing competition\, the popular “Drinski kotlić” (Drina fish pot) will also gather the teams from around the country in order to compete in preparation of fish soup. \nThe motto of the manifestation is – clean river bank and the Drina rich in fish.

SUMMARY:Days of Drina regatta in Ljubovija
DESCRIPTION:Days of Drina Regatta is a manifestation organized from July 7th to July 15th in Ljubovija. The event will be opened with the “Malinijada” (raspberry Festival) at Lukića brdo (Lukića hill)\, followed by the “Skobaljijada” (sneep fishing competition) on the Drina in Crnča. \nThe regatta includes numerous sport events – football and tennis tournaments\, plays for both children and grownups\, as well as numerous exhibitions. \nFamous Serbian singer Miroslav Ilić will perform with orchestra on Friday\, July 13th\, just before the race. There will also be fireworks after which the 40 kilometers race from Rogačica to Ljubovija will begin. \nThe Drina regatta includes unforgettable fun on the most beautiful part of the Drina River accompanied by brass orchestras that will be entertaining the participants. \nParticipants and visitors will enjoy the concert of “Acapulco band”\, and the foam party will be organized on July 14th.

DESCRIPTION:The second International Jazz Festival “Jazzibar” will take place from the 6th to the 8th of July\, in the Cultural Center Ribnica in Kraljevo. \nThe Festival will host prominent jazz musicians from Serbia\, Europe\, Israel and the United States. \n30 performers from Serbia and abroad will perform during three days of the festival. \nLocal jazz musicians that will entertain the audience are Miša Blam\, Jelena Jovović\, Vlada Maričić\, Sofija Knežević and others\, and jazz fans will also have the opportunity to hear some prominent jazz musicians from abroad like Reut Regev R*Time (Israel – USA)\, Roy Young (Israel)\, Hanes Bekman (Germany)\, Leonid Ptashka (Israel) and others. \nAlso local jazz musicians from Kraljevo will present themselves to the audience. \nBeside music program\, visitors will have the opportunity to see the unique exhibition “Jazz Museum”\, Ivan Garić’s monograph\, as the part of the multimedia project “Serbian Jazz BRE”. \nThe photo exhibition of the same name will be exhibited at the Dom vojske Srbije in Kraljevo.

SUMMARY:The festival of monodrama and pantomime
DESCRIPTION:The 37th International Festival of monodrama and pantomime will take place from the 5th till the 8th of July at Pinocchio Theatre in Zemun. Guests from the United States\, Bulgaria\, Macedonia\, England\, Portugal\, and Serbia will present themselves to the audience\, while the special guests are coming from Poland. \nThe writer Milovan Vitezović will open the Festival and the Serbian actor Nebojša Dugalić will perform the monodrama “Dmitri Karamazov’s confessions”\, by F. M. Dostoyevsky. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the exhibition of Ivan Stikić’s paintings. \nThe pantomimist Bill Bowers from the US and the actress Silvia Bojidarova from Bulgaria will also perform on the first day of the Festival. SUMMARY:Japanism
DESCRIPTION:The “Japanism” Festival is being held from July 5th to July 8th in “Dom omladine” center in Belgrade. \nThis is the only festival in the region dedicated to Japanese pop culture – comic books\, animation\, cinematography\, fashion\, and everything representing the modern pop culture in Japan. \nThe Festival is organized by the Association “Sakurabana”\, “Dom omladine” in Belgrade and the Embassy of Japan\, and is supported by the city of Belgrade. \nThis year’s theme of the exhibition and the Festival is Fantasy – dragons and elves\, knights and ninjas\, spells and superpowers\, pirates and monsters\, and anything else that complements the vision of the Japanese fiction. \nThe idea is to promote young talented authors who have no opportunity to express elsewhere. In addition\, the goal of this exhibition is to educate visitors about various aspects of this far culture and this different world. \nDebates\, lectures\, film screenings\, fashion shows\, exhibitions by local authors\, an exhibition of photographs from Japan\, tournaments of video\, card and board games\, and martial arts workshops will be organized at the Festival. \n“Japanism” will be closed on July 8th at 5 pm in the Grand Hall of “Dom omladine” with a unique masked ball “Cosplay”. It will present numerous costumes inspired by Japanese anime\, films\, series and games\, and the popular Japanese music will be played. The idea is to present a character in the best possible way\, with a costume\, presentation\, speach or a performance. \nLast year’s “Japanism” was visited by 5\,000 people during 4 days of the festival.

DESCRIPTION:The 9th International Wine Festival\, InterFest 2012\, is taking place from the 5th to the 7th of July at Freedom square (Trg Slobode) in Novi Sad. SUMMARY:Civil Modernism and Popular Culture
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade\, at the Gallery-Legacy of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković (Rodoljuba Čolakovića St. 2)\, presents the exhibition of art works entitled “Civil Modernism and Popular Culture” from July 4th till September 3rd. The exhibition is organized in order to point out the role of modern and fashionable in the construction of civil identity of the Serbian society. \nBy the end of World War I\, the Serbian civil society went through a proces of rapid growth\, modernization and Europeanization. The new style of urban population could be seen in public spaces but even more at the places for entertainment. \nThose were the indicators of new intrests\, modern and fashionable events\, as well as one different lifestyle and recreational activities. The elite does not offer us the most realistic image of a society\, instead its value system is best observed through mass culture. The exhibition will highlight the interweaving of these two cultures. \nThe exhibition is presenting about 50 art works (paintings\, drawings\, posters\, photographs\, films…) of numerous authors: Paja Jovanović\, Sava Šumanović\, Petar Dobrović\, Ivan Radović\, Miloš Golubović\, Zora Petrović\, Vasa Pomorišac\, Ivan Tabaković\, Natalija Cvetković\, Bogdan Šuput\, Mladen Josić\, Kosta Hakman\, Milan Konjović\, Milena Pavlović Barili\, Veljko Stanojević\, Dušan Janković and others. \nThis exhibition premiered in 2011\, when it was declared the best exhibition of the year in Serbia by the Association of Art Historians. \n  \nPhoto: www.msub.org.rs

SUMMARY:Beach volleyball European championships
DESCRIPTION:Serbia and Novi Sad host this year’s European Championship in beach volleyball. The tournament is being held from the 4th to the 8th of July\, at the “Štrand” beach in Novi Sad\, where the best men’s teams will compeat for valuable prizes and will throw a great event for all spectators. \nThe entrance to the tournament is free. \nThis is the second consecutive year that the Company Vip mobile and the Volleyball Federation of Serbia are organizing the prestigious CEV European Championship in beach volleyball – Masters Novi Sad 2012. 87 teams from 29 European countries applied for the competition (Austria\, Belgium\, Belarus\, Bulgaria\, Croatia\, Cyprus\, Czech Republic\, Denmark\, Estonia\, France\, Finland\, Germany\, Greece\, Holland\, Hungary\, Italy\, Latvia\, Norway\, Poland\, Portugal\, Russia\, Serbia\, Slovakia\, Slovenia\, Spain\, Sweden\, Switzerland\, Turkey and Ukraine). \nAt this year’s competition Serbia will have 6 men’s teams. \nThe youngest ones will also have great time. The famous Serbian volleyball player Vladimir Vanja Grbić will organize a beach volleyball school for kids and all interested youngsters aged up to 14 years can participate. \nThe lessons will be organized on Friday\, July 6th\, and Saturday\, July 7th from 5 to 6 pm\, and on Sunday\, July 17th from 2 to 3 pm. \nLast year the tandem Iver Andreas Horrem/Oivind Hordvik from Norway won the prize of 10\,000 euros. \nThe value of this year’s prize is 25\,000 euros\, which promises a great struggle\, while the organizers guarantee us a good time with the music throughout the day. \n  \nPhoto: www.beachmasters.rs

DESCRIPTION:The World Press Photo Exhibition will take place from 3rd to 17th of July in the Studio M in Novi Sad (Ignjata Pavlasa Street\, 3)\, under the auspices of the Royal Netherlands Embassy\, exhibiting this year’s winning photos. \nThis year the Exhibition will present 160 winning photos from around 100 destinations from around the world. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the first winning photo of the Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda – the portrait of a veiled woman holding a wounded relative in her arms after a demonstration in Yemen\, which was published in the “New York Times.” Also\, visitors will have the opportunity to see the winning photos in all nine categories. \nThe World Press Photo Exhibition is a unique traveling exhibition of the winning photos of the annual press photography contest organized by the World Press Photo\, a nonprofit organization from Amsterdam. The international jury composed of 19 members elected the best photos in nine categories. DESCRIPTION:The 6th Leskovac carnival will take place on the streets of Leskovac from 3rd to 7th of July with rich program of carnival parades\, costumes\, music and over 150\,000 visitors. All concerts start at 20.30\, and the entrance is free. \nThe already traditional international festival of Organ Days – Dies organorum will take place in the nation’s capital\, Belgrade\, for the 12th time\, presenting the prominent organists from England\, Sweden\, Slovakia\, Croatia\, Russia and the United States. Visitors of the festival will have opportunity to hear works of legendary authors such as J. S. Bach\, F. Mendelssohn\, F. Liszt\, K. Debussy\, but also the works by contemporary composers performed by the most significant organists on the music scene today. The Festival will be held at The Blessed Virgin Mary’s Cathedral in Hadži Milentijeva Street 75\, from 2nd to 12th of July. \nThe guest from England\, William Whithead \, will present himself at the grand opening of the Festival\, performing the works of J. S. Bach\, F. Mendelssohn\, K.Sen-Sans\, and the works by modern English composers from the late 20th century. \nOur guest from Austria\, the prominent organist Zuzana Ferjenčíková\, will perform the works of Franz Liszt and the local audience will have the unique opportunity to hear Modest Mussorgsky’s famous composition “Pictures at an Exhibition”. \nAnders Johnsson from Sweden will present himself with the compositions of Debussy\, Janáček\, Boelmann\, Liszt\, Bach. DESCRIPTION:The 41. Film festival in Sopot (SOFEST) is being held from 2nd to 6th of July. DESCRIPTION:The traditional 37th art colony and manifestation Sopoćanska viđenja will take place from 1st to 15th of July near the Sopoćani monastery near the town of Novi Pazar. The manifestation is organized by the Cultural Center Novi Pazar. \nThe art colony Sopoćanska viđenja is among the significant art manifestations in the country. It has been organized every year in July since 1975. The colony takes place near the Sopoćani monastery neat the town of Novi Pazar and it gathers prominent artists from around the country. The manifestation includes art colony\, school of classic painting techniques and the symposium of literal and art critics. \nThe art colony gathers prominent artists who are unique by their artistic concepts\, technique and different in their artistic choices. The school of classic painting techniques is also organized during this manifestation. This school is organized in order to teach painters the ways of copying the ancient medieval fresco-painting. The symposium of literal and art critics will take place by the end of July on the topic “Tradition and modernity”. \nThis art colony is organized every year by the Cultural Center Novi Pazar and it introduces significant cultural\, and above all artistic\, dimension to the region of Novi Pazar.

SUMMARY:Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world
DESCRIPTION:The artifacts found at the oldest urban settlement in Europe will be exhibited in the Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade till October. \nThe exhibition “Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world” will be opened for visitors in the Atrium of the National Museum till October\, presenting the artifacts found at the site of the oldest urban settlement in Central Balkans. \nThis site in Serbia was discovered after a decade of archeological explorations – the archaeological site of Kale\, in Krševica near the town of Bujanovac. \nNumerous remains of buildings\, furnaces\, pottery\, as well as parts of unique system of water supply from the 4th century B.C. were found at the surface of 5 acres. The entire necropolis was organized according to Greek models\, and it was inhabited during the time of Alexander the Great. \nPieces of pottery exhibited in the National Museum are well preserved\, and they all have stamps of workshops from across the Aegean\, Thasos and the city of Menda in Halkidiki. \nThis site is unique in Europe not only for the traces of the era of Alexander the Great\, but also the traces of the Celts were also found here. They lived here by the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd century A.D.

SUMMARY:The Merry Race
DESCRIPTION:The Marry Race – sport\, eco\, tourist and popular manifestation\, will be organized on July 1st on the Ibar River. The Race is organized by the kayak club “Ibar”. \nTraditionally this Race has been organized since 1990 every last week in June\, and the number of participants has been increasing lately reaching the number of 10\,000 local and foreign participants. \nThe gathering of the participants will start several days before the race beneath the medieval city of Maglič\, 25 kilometers from the city of Kraljevo. \nCampers will come from around the country and the region to spend several days surrounded by the beauties of untouched nature. Maglič will play host to numerous parties and Kraljevo will host concerts and different sport and recreational events. \nBut everyone will be waiting for Sunday – the day that will be remembered by every participant in the Marry Race. The trumpet orchestra is also an essential part of the competition. \nRafting on the Ibar River from the medieval city of Maglič will be interrupted only for a traditional bean lunch in Mataruška Spa. Many boats and rafts will finish the race here\, only the most persistent ones will continue the race to Kraljevo. \nOn that occasion all kinds of vessels\, mostly rafts made of different materials – plastic bottles\, metal barrels\, styrofoam\, but also the more serious rafts made of wood and metal\, can be seen on the Ibar River.

SUMMARY:Drina Regatta for People with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:The fourth Drina Regatta for People with Disabilities will be organized this year on June 30th and July 1st with the motto “Everything is Possible”. \nThe unique manifestation of this type in Europe will be organized two weeks before the Drina Regatta. This year the Drina Regatta for People with Disabilities will welcome guests from around the world. \nThe manifestation will include the race\, lunch with trumpet orchestra\, different sport games and other activities. \nThe goal of this manifestation is equality and tolerance among people\, regardless of physical handicap. \nDuring two days of the regatta participants can expect lots of fun\, friendly gatherings and relaxation on the beautiful Drina River. The camp is being specially built for this manifestation while a campfire\, recreation activities and fun will make the camp atmosphere more interesting. \nOn the second day\, participants will have the opportunity to take a boat ride from Perućac to the confluence of the Rača River into the Drina\, on the most beautiful European river. The program will be finished with lunch in the camp. The goal of this manifestation is to promote tolerance between people. \nThe organizer of this manifestation is Sport and Tourist Center Bajina Bašta.

SUMMARY:Exhibition "Giant insects and prehistoric sea beasts"
