SUMMARY:Guns 'n' Roses at Exit Festival
DESCRIPTION:The legendary rock band from Los Angeles\, Guns ‘n’ Roses\, will perform on this year’s EXIT Festival on July 15th on the main stage\, performing the cult hits from the 80-ties and the 90-ties\, as well as songs from their latest album “Chinese Democracy”. \nFestivalgoers will have the opportunity to see the heroes of several generations\, the band Guns ‘n’ Roses\, on the main stage where they will perform on July the 15th. \nLed by the icon of rock ‘n’ roll culture\, Axl Rose\, the band will perform some of their biggest hits\, and songs from the latest album “Chinese Democracy” from 2008. \nThe band is preparing their seventh album with tons of new material\, so the fans can hope for a premier performance of some new hits. \nThis is not the first time the band is performing in Serbia\, GnR held a concert in 2010 in Belgrade Arena promoting the then current album “Chinese Democracy”. \n\n  \nAt the moment the GnR are Axl Rose (vocals\, piano)\, Dizzy Reed (keyboards\, piano\, synthesizer\, backing vocals)\, Tommy Stinson (bass\, backing vocals)\, Chris Pitman (keyboards\, backing vocals)\, Richard Fortus (guitar)\, Frank Ferrer (drums\, percussion) and Ron Thal (guitar). \nGuns ‘n’ Roses gained world fame in the 80-ties and the early 90-ties with the music that is the mixture of hard rock\, blues rock\, heavy metal and glam metal. Their debut album “Appetite for Destruction” from 1987 became one of the best-selling debut albums ever. DESCRIPTION:Queen of neo-soul\, Erykah Badu\, is the star of the night on Saturday\, July 14th\, at the Main Stage\, where she will be joined by the popular British rapper Plan B and the American hardcore band\, Suicidal Tendencies. SUMMARY:European Film Festival Palić
DESCRIPTION:At several locations in Subotica and Palić\, from 14 to 20 July\, the 19th European Film Festival Palić is being held. \nThis year’s special guest of the festival is Anthony Giddens\, one of the most important sociologists of modern day. He will participate in the debate on “Climate Change and Politics\,” which takes place 15th July in Conference Room Small inns in Palic\, at 10 hours. \nFilms will this year be shown in several selections: Official selection\, Parallels and Encounters\, Young spirit of Europe\, Underground Spirit Award\, New Swedish Film\, New Hungarian Film\, Eco Documentaries\, Children’s Program\, Hommage Program and Special Screening. \nThe Official selection will present films of such great directors like Christian Petzold\, Srdjan Dragojević\, Cristian Mungiu\, Timo Vuorensola\, Ulrich Seidl and others. \nThe Parallels and Encounters program brings a very successful film “Clip” by a young Serbian director Maja Miloš\, the latest film by a famous Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska\, but also promising new works of authors like Rainer Sarnet from Estonia or Gabriel Achim from Romania. \nThe highlight of this year’s “New Swedish films” program is a film named “Beyond”\, a directoral debut of a celebrated Swedish actress Pernilla August with incredible Noomi Rapace\, while “New Hungarian Film” brings the lastest film by a legendary director Istvan Szabo and great filmmakers like Atila Till\, Marcell Jankovics\, Judit Elek\, Peter Bergendy and others. \n\nPalić International Film Festival was founded 20 years ago. From the earliest small and unpretentious film screenings in Palić\, through the persistent attempts to create a serious regional film festival in hard times and the first attempts at getting closer to the cinematography of the former Yugoslav republics\, it has grown into an important destination on the map of film festivals in Europe. In the year 2003\, with its 10th edition\, it became a European Film Festival and a member of the European Coordination of Film Festivals. \nToday the European Film Festival Palić is one of the most important film festivals in this region and one of the few in the world with 100% European content. \n

SUMMARY:Rafting on the Ibar "Race without borders 2012"
DESCRIPTION:Rafting on the Ibar River “Spust bez granica” (Race without borders) will take place on July 14th and 15th. This exciting manifestation starts with the opening of the camp on Saturday July 14th\, 2012\, at 10 am. \nAfterwards\, numerous manifestations will be held – sports competitions\, Games without borders at the pool in the camp\, the competition in preparing fish soup\, and the concert of a local band. The race starts on Sunday July 15th\, at 10 am. First three rafts or boats to reach the finish in Raška will win the cups for the fastest rafts. \nRafting manifestation has been conceived as the joined idea of the organizers from the municipalities of Leposavić and Raška. This manifestation sends nonviolent and friendly message about unnatural concept of borders to everyone setting the borders on the places where they shouldn’t exist. \n\n  \nBeside great fun and the sense of freedom of borderless friendships\, participants can enjoy the natural beauties of the region. The nearby Mt. Kopaonik is beautiful on a hot summer day\, and there are also numerous spas – Banjska\, Vučanska Banja\, where you can rest after the race. The remains of the medieval cities of Galič and Brnjaci and the fortress at Zvečanski vis will greet the participants of the race. \n

DESCRIPTION:Summer in Lido features rich sports and recreational programs that will take place during the summer season at the Lido beach till August 31st. The manifestation includes the performances of young unestablished bands\, performance and dance companies. \nOn Saturday\, July 14th\, the members of the dance school “Baila con Migo” will be dancing salsa on the sandy beach of Lido. In the evening\, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the public lesson of Zumba at 6 pm. Milenko Ćurčin will host the program. \nThe dance school “Baila con Migo” performs again on Saturday\, July 21st\, with the beginning at 15 o’clock\, while a “Zumbatomik” is being organized for the youngest ones on the beach from 17.30 till 15. DESCRIPTION:From August 8th\, film and photography fans will have the opportunity to see interesting moments from behind the film camera immortalized by photographer Vladimir Andjić who is bringing us this rare “insider” view on film. Different connections between photography and film represent the core of this exhibition. \nAleksandar Andjić has worked as photo reporter in numerous daily newspaper and has never been an official film photographer\, but the curious nature of photo reporter took him to numerous film sets of our feature and documentary films where he managed to catch numerous moments\, the same way he did in other spheres like politics\, economy\, culture\, art\, public and private life. \nThis “unexpected guest” at film sets of films by Slobodan Šijan\, Goran Paskaljević\, Miloš Radović\, Goran Marković\, Boris Mitić and Dragan Marinković\, has managed to capture “the essence” of film making and to make a photo exhibition worth of seeing. \n  \nPhoto: www.kcb.org.rs

SUMMARY:Mowing on Mt. Rajac
DESCRIPTION:Tourist manifestation “Mowing on Mt. Rajac” with traditional cultural and artistic program\, traditional country party and the exhibition of agricultural machines\, will gather guests from different parts of the country and from abroad from July 13th till July 15th. The manifestation “Mowing on Mt. Rajac” was created in order to treasure the Serbian tradition of the mowing meadows on Mt. Rajac. \nThis manifestation symbolizes the end of hard and tiresome work on mowing mountain meadows and it is being held every year\, on the first Sunday after St. Peter’s Day. \nAfter the opening ceremony\, scythesmen\, accompanied by brass band\, water bearers and singers\, will head for the slopes of Mt. Rajac where they will be competing for the “Golden scythe”\, and this year “master of scythe” will officially be announced for the first time. After the winner is voted follows the scythesmen lunch on the meadow. \nLarge number of competitors from Serbia\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Montenegro\, Macedonia\, Croatia and Slovenia will enter the competition. \nMt. Rajac is one of the most beautiful mountains of the Valjevo mountain range that has always lured visitors. This mountain\, that the travelers named “Paradise on Earth” for its exceptional beauty\, is located in the Northwestern Serbia. There is also a modern tourist center with numerous accommodation and support facilities that will meet all visitors’ needs on Mt. Rajac. \n

DESCRIPTION:This year’s ambient theater festival “Tvrđava teatar” (Fortress Theatre) is being held from July 11th till July 20th under the slogan “Pan teatricum”. \nPlays created in a variety of modern\, authentic directorial approaches and manuscripts\, and based on texts of all genres of drama in the time span of half a millennium\, will be performed at the Smederevo Fortress under the clear night sky. \nThe play “Transition” performed by the theatre Pan opticum from Germany is opening the Festival on July 11th. \nIt is being followed by the plays “Kanjoš Macedonović” by the Belgrade National Theatre\, “Noć u kafani Titanik” (Night at the Titanic pub) by the theatre from Kragujevac\, “Zbogom SFRJ” (Goodby SFRY) by Atelje 212\, the play “Bunar” (Well)\, “Višnjik” (The Cherry Orchard) by Chekhov and “Ja sam vetar” (I am the wind) by Jun Fose and directed by Stevan Bodroža. \nAwards for the best play\, direction and actor will be awarded at the festival. \nThe Festival also gathers young people from France\, Germany and Serbia who will be working with the French director Alban Varet on the international youth production of street theatre on the theme of cultural diversity as a wealth of European identity. The play is a part of the project IDEAL supported by the European Union through the program “Podrška civilnom društvu” (Support to civil society). \nPlays will be performed at the Small and the Big Town at the Smederevo Fortress and at Republic Square. DESCRIPTION:The International Folk Festival “The Wreath of Vršac”\, a place of gathering of numerous international ansambles\, is being organized in the town of Vršac that lies at the foot of the Vršac Mountains. \nThis year’s anniversary 15th International Folklore Festival “The Wreath of Vršac” will be held from July 11th to July 15th 2012 at the Town square in Vršac. \nThe Festival will be opened with a grand parade at 18.30 after which a rich festival program and the opening of the Festival at 20.00 will follow. This year the Festival will introduce ensembles from 10 countries\, including Mexico\, Indonesia\, Tunisia\, Spain\, Turkey\, Bulgaria\, Canada\, Republika Srpska and Serbia. \nSince founded in 1993 the International Folklore Festival gathered about 200 ensembles from around the world and it is the meeting place of many cultures. The festival was founded to preserve the tradition of folk songs and dances. The festival consists of competitive programme\, review programme and accompanying manifestations. \nSo far\, in addition to numerous ensembles from the country and the region\, guests from distant countries like Mexico\, India\, Sri Lanka\, Tahiti\, as well as France\, Spain\, Russia\, Poland\, and many others had a chance to show its culture and traditional dance and music to the local audience. \nIn addition to the main festival program\, the manifestation is followed by the Ethno Fair and a series of events – concerts\, exhibitions\, lectures\, taking place at various locations in the city. “The Wreath of Vršac” is an important festival of traditional dance and music\, as well as a unique opportunity for the encounter of cultures from around the world and exchange of experiences. The festival is organized every year by the Municipality of Vršac.

SUMMARY:Tesla's vision of internet
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition named “Tesla’s vision of internet” is being held in “O3one” gallery in Belgrade from July 9th till 13th of the same month\, in honor of the 10th of July\, the birthday of Nikola Tesla\, one of the greatest minds of the XX century. \nIn 1900. Nikola Tesla has created a project called “World system”. In it’s 12 items\, using technical phrases of the time\, he described what we know today as wireless interet\, mobile telephony and GPS. \nIn 1908. he described it in more detail in “Wireless Telegraphy & Telephony” magazine\, in the article named “The Future of the Wireless Art”. \nSome mobile phone companies have\, in the past couple of years\, used Tesla’s prediction of the future of communications given to “The New York Times” in 1909. and also published by “Popular Mechanics” magazine in the article named “Wireless of the future”\, as his vision of smartphones. \nNonetheless\, when everything Tesla said and wrote in the beginning of the XX century is taken more comprehensively\, it can be concluded that his words speak more about the present day technology that unites all the aspects of communication and transfer of information – internet\, regardless of any specific device that makes it happen. \nThe idea of “Tesla’s vision of internet” exhibition is to show the ways in which all the things Tesla mentioned are available to the modern internet user – whether using a computer or a mobile phone. \nThe author of “Tesla’s vision of internet” is Lazar Bošković\, a multimedial author from Belgrade\, and the project is so far consisted of the exhibition and corresponding web site. Design of tzhe exhibition is the work of Dušana Vojnova from “Orange” studio. \n“Tesla’s vision of internet” exhibition is opening on July 9th\, 8pm\, in “O3one” gallery in Belgrade. DESCRIPTION:The great Macedonian singer Esma Redžepova will perform on July 8th at 8.30 pm on the Summer stage at Bojčin forest\, as part of the “Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer) festival. \nThis “Gipsy from the city of Skopje”\, as she calls herself\, is a great humanitarian and songwriter. During her long career Esma has performed in around 9\,000 concerts in 30 countries. \nShe has fostered and raised 47 children\, and she won numerous awards for her humanitarian work. \nRedžepova started her career at the age of 14\, after having won the competition for talents at the Radio Skopje\, and then she went on tour with her band led by Esma’s future husband\, Stevo Teodosijevski. She published 586 songs and was a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Peace. \n“Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer) festival is opened on the Summer stage in Bojčin forest. The Festival will run until September 23rd and will have 43 programs\, on Saturdays and Sundays. Program will include all kinds of musical performances\, from classical to pop\, rock\, ethnic music\, theater plays by various Belgrade theaters and theaters from around Serbia. \n

DESCRIPTION:One of the largest tourist manifestations in Serbia\, after Brass festival in Guča and Exit festival\, the Carnival in Vrnjačka Banja is organized from July 8th till July 15th. \nDuring this traditional carnival\, Vrnjačka Banja turns into one big stage with masked balls\, exhibitions\, concerts\, plays and sport events. \nThe central event is the Great International Carnival Parade. SUMMARY:Days of Drina regatta in Ljubovija
DESCRIPTION:Days of Drina Regatta is a manifestation organized from July 7th to July 15th in Ljubovija. DESCRIPTION:One of the most popular rock ‘n’ roll bands in the entire ex Yu region\, “Partibrejkers” (The Party breakers) from Belgrade\, will hold a concert at the Summer stage of the Cultural Center Pančevo on Friday\, July 6th. \n“Partibrejkers” (The Party breakers) are Serbian rock band with 30 years of successful career under their belt. \nNot to mention the endless list of great concerts and gigs and hits that many generations in the ex Yugoslavia grew up listening to. \nThey recorded 7 albums\, and a live album “Krš i lom” released in 2009. \nThe price of the tickets for the concert in Pančevo is 500 RSD\, and they can be bought at the “Mali klub Doma omladine” (Little club of the Belgrade Youth Center) and box office at the Cultural Center Pančevo. \nOn the day of the concert\, tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of the Summer Stage. \n\n

DESCRIPTION:The second International Jazz Festival “Jazzibar” will take place from the 6th to the 8th of July\, in the Cultural Center Ribnica in Kraljevo. \nThe Festival will host prominent jazz musicians from Serbia\, Europe\, Israel and the United States. \n30 performers from Serbia and abroad will perform during three days of the festival. \nLocal jazz musicians that will entertain the audience are Miša Blam\, Jelena Jovović\, Vlada Maričić\, Sofija Knežević and others\, and jazz fans will also have the opportunity to hear some prominent jazz musicians from abroad like Reut Regev R*Time (Israel – USA)\, Roy Young (Israel)\, Hanes Bekman (Germany)\, Leonid Ptashka (Israel) and others. \nAlso local jazz musicians from Kraljevo will present themselves to the audience. \nBeside music program\, visitors will have the opportunity to see the unique exhibition “Jazz Museum”\, Ivan Garić’s monograph\, as the part of the multimedia project “Serbian Jazz BRE”. \nThe photo exhibition of the same name will be exhibited at the Dom vojske Srbije in Kraljevo.

SUMMARY:The festival of monodrama and pantomime
DESCRIPTION:The 37th International Festival of monodrama and pantomime will take place from the 5th till the 8th of July at Pinocchio Theatre in Zemun. Guests from the United States\, Bulgaria\, Macedonia\, England\, Portugal\, and Serbia will present themselves to the audience\, while the special guests are coming from Poland. \nThe writer Milovan Vitezović will open the Festival and the Serbian actor Nebojša Dugalić will perform the monodrama “Dmitri Karamazov’s confessions”\, by F. M. Dostoyevsky. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the exhibition of Ivan Stikić’s paintings. \nThe pantomimist Bill Bowers from the US and the actress Silvia Bojidarova from Bulgaria will also perform on the first day of the Festival. SUMMARY:Japanism
DESCRIPTION:The “Japanism” Festival is being held from July 5th to July 8th in “Dom omladine” center in Belgrade. \nThis is the only festival in the region dedicated to Japanese pop culture – comic books\, animation\, cinematography\, fashion\, and everything representing the modern pop culture in Japan. \nThe Festival is organized by the Association “Sakurabana”\, “Dom omladine” in Belgrade and the Embassy of Japan\, and is supported by the city of Belgrade. \nThis year’s theme of the exhibition and the Festival is Fantasy – dragons and elves\, knights and ninjas\, spells and superpowers\, pirates and monsters\, and anything else that complements the vision of the Japanese fiction. \nThe idea is to promote young talented authors who have no opportunity to express elsewhere. In addition\, the goal of this exhibition is to educate visitors about various aspects of this far culture and this different world. \nDebates\, lectures\, film screenings\, fashion shows\, exhibitions by local authors\, an exhibition of photographs from Japan\, tournaments of video\, card and board games\, and martial arts workshops will be organized at the Festival. \n“Japanism” will be closed on July 8th at 5 pm in the Grand Hall of “Dom omladine” with a unique masked ball “Cosplay”. It will present numerous costumes inspired by Japanese anime\, films\, series and games\, and the popular Japanese music will be played. The idea is to present a character in the best possible way\, with a costume\, presentation\, speach or a performance. \nLast year’s “Japanism” was visited by 5\,000 people during 4 days of the festival.

DESCRIPTION:The 9th International Wine Festival\, InterFest 2012\, is taking place from the 5th to the 7th of July at Freedom square (Trg Slobode) in Novi Sad. SUMMARY:Civil Modernism and Popular Culture
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade\, at the Gallery-Legacy of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković (Rodoljuba Čolakovića St. 2)\, presents the exhibition of art works entitled “Civil Modernism and Popular Culture” from July 4th till September 3rd. The exhibition is organized in order to point out the role of modern and fashionable in the construction of civil identity of the Serbian society. \nBy the end of World War I\, the Serbian civil society went through a proces of rapid growth\, modernization and Europeanization. The new style of urban population could be seen in public spaces but even more at the places for entertainment. \nThose were the indicators of new intrests\, modern and fashionable events\, as well as one different lifestyle and recreational activities. The elite does not offer us the most realistic image of a society\, instead its value system is best observed through mass culture. The exhibition will highlight the interweaving of these two cultures. \nThe exhibition is presenting about 50 art works (paintings\, drawings\, posters\, photographs\, films…) of numerous authors: Paja Jovanović\, Sava Šumanović\, Petar Dobrović\, Ivan Radović\, Miloš Golubović\, Zora Petrović\, Vasa Pomorišac\, Ivan Tabaković\, Natalija Cvetković\, Bogdan Šuput\, Mladen Josić\, Kosta Hakman\, Milan Konjović\, Milena Pavlović Barili\, Veljko Stanojević\, Dušan Janković and others. \nThis exhibition premiered in 2011\, when it was declared the best exhibition of the year in Serbia by the Association of Art Historians. \n  \nPhoto: www.msub.org.rs

SUMMARY:Beach volleyball European championships
DESCRIPTION:Serbia and Novi Sad host this year’s European Championship in beach volleyball. The tournament is being held from the 4th to the 8th of July\, at the “Štrand” beach in Novi Sad\, where the best men’s teams will compeat for valuable prizes and will throw a great event for all spectators. \nThe entrance to the tournament is free. \nThis is the second consecutive year that the Company Vip mobile and the Volleyball Federation of Serbia are organizing the prestigious CEV European Championship in beach volleyball – Masters Novi Sad 2012. 87 teams from 29 European countries applied for the competition (Austria\, Belgium\, Belarus\, Bulgaria\, Croatia\, Cyprus\, Czech Republic\, Denmark\, Estonia\, France\, Finland\, Germany\, Greece\, Holland\, Hungary\, Italy\, Latvia\, Norway\, Poland\, Portugal\, Russia\, Serbia\, Slovakia\, Slovenia\, Spain\, Sweden\, Switzerland\, Turkey and Ukraine). \nAt this year’s competition Serbia will have 6 men’s teams. \nThe youngest ones will also have great time. The famous Serbian volleyball player Vladimir Vanja Grbić will organize a beach volleyball school for kids and all interested youngsters aged up to 14 years can participate. \nThe lessons will be organized on Friday\, July 6th\, and Saturday\, July 7th from 5 to 6 pm\, and on Sunday\, July 17th from 2 to 3 pm. \nLast year the tandem Iver Andreas Horrem/Oivind Hordvik from Norway won the prize of 10\,000 euros. \nThe value of this year’s prize is 25\,000 euros\, which promises a great struggle\, while the organizers guarantee us a good time with the music throughout the day. \n  \nPhoto: www.beachmasters.rs
