SUMMARY:Review of independent films in "Serbian Holywood"
DESCRIPTION:The 2nd Review of the independent Serbian off-films is being organized from July 27th till July 29th in the ambient of the “Serbian Holywood” in the village of Mutanj\, at Mt. Rudnik. \nSeven new films made in the so called house workshops will be presented at the Festival and will compete for the award “Šumski patuljak” (Forest dwarf). Another two films out of the competition will be presented to the audience. \nThe official program includes the films “Obrt” (Turnover) by Srdjan Stojanović from Belgrade\, “To moram” (I have to do that) by Branko Radaković from Bač\, “Filozof iz našeg sokaka” (Philosopher from our street) by the professor Dragan Krstić and Vladimir Karadžić from Subotica\, “Putevima Tibora Sekelja” (Following Tibor Sekelj) by Stipan Milodanović from Subotica\, “Potpisani” (The Signed) – the second episode “Šifra” (Code) and the third episode “Voz” (Train) by Marko Kovač from Belgrade\, and “Hipnoza” (Hypnosis) by Kosta Marinković from Gornji Milanovac. \nThe film on the last year’s Review – “60’” by Miroslav Nikolić and Bata Petrović\, also the author of the film “Srpski mjuzikl – 60’” (Serbian musical – 60’)\, will be presented at the Festival. \n“Serbian Holywood” is a work of young enthusiast Ivan Jakovljević\, called Ivo-Car. The “Holywood” sign is set on a hill above the Ibar highway\, 105 km from Belgrade.

SUMMARY:Vlatko Stefanovski trio Concert
DESCRIPTION:The famous Macedonian songwriter and guitar player Vlatko Stefanovski will be holding a concert on July 22nd in Bojčinska Forest. The concert starts at 20.30 and it is a part of the Festival “Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer). \nThe unique guitar sound and the technique celebrated this artist on the territory of ex Yugoslavia and in the world. \nStefanovski started playing the guitar at the age of 13. He gained popularity with his band “Leb i sol”\, they recorded 14 albums. At the moment he’s working with Miroslav Tadić and the band “VS Trio”\, he’s writing music for film\, theatre and ballet. He played with Tony Emanuel\, Gibonni\, Stefan Milenković and many other prominent musicians. \nThe “Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin summer) Festival is opened on the Summer stage in Bojčinska Forest. SUMMARY:Green Days Eco Festival 2012
DESCRIPTION:The first festival joining ecology and music – Green Days Fest\, is taking place on Friday\, July 20th\, and Saturday\, July 21st\, at the quay on the Tamiš River in Pančevo. The festival will be hosting famous world and local bands and performers: Dr Feelgood\, Van Gogh\, Vlatko Stefanovski\, SevdahBaby and others. \nThe first day of the festival is reserved for the Ecology Fair with the beginning at 12.00. SUMMARY:The Drina Regatta Bajina Bašta
DESCRIPTION:The Drina Regatta in Bajina Bašta is being organized from July 19th till July 21st. The Drina Regatta is the most visited tourist and recreation manifestation and the central event in the Western Serbia. This year’s 19th regatta will offer a rich side program like in previous years. \nBeside sports and recreational programs\, the organizers have announced the concerts of famous bands – Legende\, Kerber\, Zabranjeno pušenje\, Beogradski sindikat\, Darkwood dub and Eyesburn. \nThe regatta starts on July 19th at 4 pm with the competition in preparing fish soup. The program continues with the Games without borders on Perućac Lake and the competition in swimming across the lake. In the evening visitors will enjoy the concert of the famous band Legende at the square in Bajina Bašta. \nThe second day of the regatta seems to promise even more fun. After the display of vessels on the Drina River at 4 pm and jumping from the bridge\, follows the traditional MOST FEST – at the confluence of the Rača into the Drina\, with the performances of the bend Kerber from Niš and the band Eyesburn. \nThe third day of the regatta on July 21st is reserved for the central event – the race begins at 11 am with hundreds of vessels and crews\, accompanied by the brass band\, floating bar\, music raft\, barbeque raft. We mustn’t forget swimming in the river as well. The MOST FEST continues in the evening with the performances of Zabranjeno pušenje\, Beogradski sindikat and Darkwood dub. \nAlso the health and recreation fair will be organized during the regatta at the square in Bajina Bašta. \nThe competition of young and pioneer brass bands from the Western Serbia and the Moravica District and the Raška district is taking place on the last day of the manifestation. SUMMARY:Guns 'n' Roses at Exit Festival
DESCRIPTION:The legendary rock band from Los Angeles\, Guns ‘n’ Roses\, will perform on this year’s EXIT Festival on July 15th on the main stage\, performing the cult hits from the 80-ties and the 90-ties\, as well as songs from their latest album “Chinese Democracy”. \nFestivalgoers will have the opportunity to see the heroes of several generations\, the band Guns ‘n’ Roses\, on the main stage where they will perform on July the 15th. \nLed by the icon of rock ‘n’ roll culture\, Axl Rose\, the band will perform some of their biggest hits\, and songs from the latest album “Chinese Democracy” from 2008. \nThe band is preparing their seventh album with tons of new material\, so the fans can hope for a premier performance of some new hits. \nThis is not the first time the band is performing in Serbia\, GnR held a concert in 2010 in Belgrade Arena promoting the then current album “Chinese Democracy”. \n\n  \nAt the moment the GnR are Axl Rose (vocals\, piano)\, Dizzy Reed (keyboards\, piano\, synthesizer\, backing vocals)\, Tommy Stinson (bass\, backing vocals)\, Chris Pitman (keyboards\, backing vocals)\, Richard Fortus (guitar)\, Frank Ferrer (drums\, percussion) and Ron Thal (guitar). \nGuns ‘n’ Roses gained world fame in the 80-ties and the early 90-ties with the music that is the mixture of hard rock\, blues rock\, heavy metal and glam metal. Their debut album “Appetite for Destruction” from 1987 became one of the best-selling debut albums ever. SUMMARY:Rafting on the Ibar "Race without borders 2012"
DESCRIPTION:Rafting on the Ibar River “Spust bez granica” (Race without borders) will take place on July 14th and 15th. This exciting manifestation starts with the opening of the camp on Saturday July 14th\, 2012\, at 10 am. \nAfterwards\, numerous manifestations will be held – sports competitions\, Games without borders at the pool in the camp\, the competition in preparing fish soup\, and the concert of a local band. The race starts on Sunday July 15th\, at 10 am. First three rafts or boats to reach the finish in Raška will win the cups for the fastest rafts. \nRafting manifestation has been conceived as the joined idea of the organizers from the municipalities of Leposavić and Raška. This manifestation sends nonviolent and friendly message about unnatural concept of borders to everyone setting the borders on the places where they shouldn’t exist. \n\n  \nBeside great fun and the sense of freedom of borderless friendships\, participants can enjoy the natural beauties of the region. The nearby Mt. Kopaonik is beautiful on a hot summer day\, and there are also numerous spas – Banjska\, Vučanska Banja\, where you can rest after the race. The remains of the medieval cities of Galič and Brnjaci and the fortress at Zvečanski vis will greet the participants of the race. \n

The manifestation “Mowing on Mt. Rajac” was created in order to treasure the Serbian tradition of the mowing meadows on Mt. Rajac where they will be competing for the “Golden scythe”\, and this year “master of scythe” will officially be announced for the first time. After the winner is voted follows the scythesmen lunch on the meadow. \nLarge number of competitors from Serbia\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Montenegro\, Macedonia\, Croatia and Slovenia will enter the competition. \nMt. Rajac is one of the most beautiful mountains of the Valjevo mountain range that has always lured visitors. This mountain\, that the travelers named “Paradise on Earth” for its exceptional beauty\, is located in the Northwestern Serbia. DESCRIPTION:The International Folk Festival “The Wreath of Vršac”\, a place of gathering of numerous international ansambles\, is being organized in the town of Vršac that lies at the foot of the Vršac Mountains. \nThis year’s anniversary 15th International Folklore Festival “The Wreath of Vršac” will be held from July 11th to July 15th 2012 at the Town square in Vršac. \nThe Festival will be opened with a grand parade at 18.30 after which a rich festival program and the opening of the Festival at 20.00 will follow. This year the Festival will introduce ensembles from 10 countries\, including Mexico\, Indonesia\, Tunisia\, Spain\, Turkey\, Bulgaria\, Canada\, Republika Srpska and Serbia. \nSince founded in 1993 the International Folklore Festival gathered about 200 ensembles from around the world and it is the meeting place of many cultures. The festival was founded to preserve the tradition of folk songs and dances. The festival consists of competitive programme\, review programme and accompanying manifestations. \nSo far\, in addition to numerous ensembles from the country and the region\, guests from distant countries like Mexico\, India\, Sri Lanka\, Tahiti\, as well as France\, Spain\, Russia\, Poland\, and many others had a chance to show its culture and traditional dance and music to the local audience. \nIn addition to the main festival program\, the manifestation is followed by the Ethno Fair and a series of events – concerts\, exhibitions\, lectures\, taking place at various locations in the city. “The Wreath of Vršac” is an important festival of traditional dance and music\, as well as a unique opportunity for the encounter of cultures from around the world and exchange of experiences. SUMMARY:Design exhibition "Dynamics 2012"
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Dinamika 2012” (Dynamics 2012)\, presenting the works of active members of Design section and “ULPUDUS” (The Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia)\, is being held from the 10th to the 20th of July in the Singidunum Gallery (Knez Mihailova St\, 10). \nThe basic concept of the exhibition is the artistic expression of dynamics\, current time\, space and technological possibilities. \nUnique pieces of furniture\, tables\, lamps\, solutions for industrial production\, pieces of jewelry\, visual identities\, posters\, disc covers\, and free graphic forms will be exhibited in the Singidunum Gallery. \nVisitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the objects formed in the unconventional way as visual responses to the questions of modern dynamics. \n  \n

SUMMARY:International Folklore Festival
DESCRIPTION:The International Folklore Festival Belgrade 2012 is being held from July 9th till July 15th. \nThe Festival is organized by the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts and it is supported by the Secretariat for Culture of the city of Belgrade\, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia. \nTop five folklore ensembles from Belgrade\, members of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts\, and guests from another ten countries will present their traditional dances and music at the Festival.

SUMMARY:Tesla's vision of internet
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition named “Tesla’s vision of internet” is being held in “O3one” gallery in Belgrade from July 9th till 13th of the same month\, in honor of the 10th of July\, the birthday of Nikola Tesla\, one of the greatest minds of the XX century. \nIn 1900. Nikola Tesla has created a project called “World system”. In it’s 12 items\, using technical phrases of the time\, he described what we know today as wireless interet\, mobile telephony and GPS. \nIn 1908. he described it in more detail in “Wireless Telegraphy & Telephony” magazine\, in the article named “The Future of the Wireless Art”. \nSome mobile phone companies have\, in the past couple of years\, used Tesla’s prediction of the future of communications given to “The New York Times” in 1909. and also published by “Popular Mechanics” magazine in the article named “Wireless of the future”\, as his vision of smartphones. \nNonetheless\, when everything Tesla said and wrote in the beginning of the XX century is taken more comprehensively\, it can be concluded that his words speak more about the present day technology that unites all the aspects of communication and transfer of information – internet\, regardless of any specific device that makes it happen. \nThe idea of “Tesla’s vision of internet” exhibition is to show the ways in which all the things Tesla mentioned are available to the modern internet user – whether using a computer or a mobile phone. \nThe author of “Tesla’s vision of internet” is Lazar Bošković\, a multimedial author from Belgrade\, and the project is so far consisted of the exhibition and corresponding web site. Design of tzhe exhibition is the work of Dušana Vojnova from “Orange” studio. \n“Tesla’s vision of internet” exhibition is opening on July 9th\, 8pm\, in “O3one” gallery in Belgrade. SUMMARY:Esma Redžepova\, concert
DESCRIPTION:The great Macedonian singer Esma Redžepova will perform on July 8th at 8.30 pm on the Summer stage at Bojčin forest\, as part of the “Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer) festival. \nThis “Gipsy from the city of Skopje”\, as she calls herself\, is a great humanitarian and songwriter. During her long career Esma has performed in around 9\,000 concerts in 30 countries. \nShe has fostered and raised 47 children\, and she won numerous awards for her humanitarian work. \nRedžepova started her career at the age of 14\, after having won the competition for talents at the Radio Skopje\, and then she went on tour with her band led by Esma’s future husband\, Stevo Teodosijevski. She published 586 songs and was a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Peace. \n“Bojčinsko leto” (Bojčin Summer) festival is opened on the Summer stage in Bojčin forest. The Festival will run until September 23rd and will have 43 programs\, on Saturdays and Sundays. Program will include all kinds of musical performances\, from classical to pop\, rock\, ethnic music\, theater plays by various Belgrade theaters and theaters from around Serbia. \n

SUMMARY:Carnival of Vrnjci
DESCRIPTION:One of the largest tourist manifestations in Serbia\, after Brass festival in Guča and Exit festival\, the Carnival in Vrnjačka Banja is organized from July 8th till July 15th. \nDuring this traditional carnival\, Vrnjačka Banja turns into one big stage with masked balls\, exhibitions\, concerts\, plays and sport events. \nThe central event is the Great International Carnival Parade. Numerous carnival troops from around the world guarantee great fun and true festival spirit. \nYear after year\, this manifestation gathers more and more participants from the country and from around the world. \nIt is expected that this year the traditional carnival parade will gather the largest number of participants from the country and from abroad\, and the bands such as “Riblja čorba”\, “Vampiri”\, “Zemlja Gruva”\, singer Aca Lukas and the finalists of the Serbian edition of the “I have a talent” show and “The First Voice of Serbia” will also perform at this manifestation. \nMoreover\, DJ parties till early dawn will be organized every evening. \n“Carnival of the festivals” program will also include the “Festival of popular music” that gathers prominent names from the popular music scene. \nCarnival of Vrnjci has been awarded the “Tourist flower” award for the best tourist event by the Tourist Organization of Serbia with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Tourism. \nLast year\, the Carnival was visited by more than 250\,000 visitors.

SUMMARY:Cello Fest
DESCRIPTION:The 9th International Cello Fest in Belgrade\, dedicated to the violoncello\, is being held from July 7th till July 12th at the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation. \nThe famous cellist Gavriel Lipkind will perform the opening night\, and Ksenija Janković\, Svetlana Bogosavljević\, Sandra Belić\, Milan Karanović\, Krystof Urbanec – viola da gamba\, Ensemble Liaison and many others will perform during 6 days of the event. \nThe Festival is organized by “Jugokoncert”. \nProminent artists will perform many famous compositions at eight concerts during the festival. \nThey will also hold traditional master workshops at the Faculty of Music. \nTickets for the final evening of the festival can be purchased at the ticket office of the “Kolarac” at prices of 300\, 400 and 500 RSD\, while the entrance to all other concerts if free. \n  \nPhoto: www.freedigitalphotos.net

SUMMARY:Belgrade Boat Carnival
DESCRIPTION:The 9th Belgrade Boat Carnival is taking place on July 7th\, under the slogan “Love on the rivers”. \nVisitors of this unique manifestation will have opportunity to see a parade of decorated vessels that will sail from different Belgrade marinas\, acrobatics on water and lots of fun on the beach. \nThe traditional Belgrade Boat Carnival promotes the nautical tourism in the capital\, greets the tourists who visit our city by boat and dedicates this carnival to the Sava and the Danube\, and their confluence\, the symbol of our city. \nAnother slogan of the carnival is “At the happy buoy” and it is dedicated to the buoy set at the very confluence of the Sava into the Danube. \nHere dozens of European rivers join the Sava and flow into the Danube. \nFree cruises on boats “Kornjača” (Turtle)\, “Beograd 25. Maj” (Belgrade May 25th) and “Hrabro srce” (Brave heart) will be organized for all visitors from 5 to 8 pm. This is the unique opportunity for visitors to participate in the carnival\, alongside the carnival boats. \nTour departures are organized every half an hour at the Beton Hala Waterfront Center. \nVisitors will have the opportunity to charge their mobile phones only by using solar energy – on the “Strawberry tree”\, and they will learn about recycling and the importance of protecting the environment. \nThe program includes several concerts\, lottery and you can even send your message into the sky in a helium balloon.
