SUMMARY:Šumadija Fest
DESCRIPTION:Šumadija Fest\, one of the most visited manifestations in Central Serbia that unites music\, art and sport\, takes place on August 24th and 25th at the plateau in front of “Kragujevac Fair”. During two days of the Festival\, numerous local bands and performers will perform on two stages\, while different sport manifestations will take place at the plateau. \nThe first day of the Festival is reserved for the sounds of Irish music performed by Orthodox Celts\, a popular Serbian band\, followed by Del Arno Bend with the sounds of reggae music. Zabranjeno pušenje\, one of the most popular rock bands in the exYU with 30 years long music carrier\, will be performing on the first day of the Festival. \nClub music in the unique interpretation of the band Makao should not be missed on the second day of the Festival\, on August 25th. Besides them\, the stages will host Dance 4 Life Crew and numerous DJs. In the evening the audience will be partying at the TDI Radio party. \nBesides music program\, the Festival aims to promote culture and education of young people through lectures\, panels and workshops\, where participants can exchange experiences on actual topics from these fields. \nThe Festival was launched last year with the idea to promote an event in the hearth of Šumadija that will take place each year and improve the social life of young people and gather large number of local and foreign tourists by offering them rich music and side programs. \n

SUMMARY:Eco Regatta Tamiš 2012
DESCRIPTION:The 3rd Eco Regatta Tamiš takes place from August 24th till August 26th along the stretch of river Tamiš from the town of Pančevo and the confluence of the Tamiš into the Danube to Opovo\, and it will gather old and new participants of the regatta\, river admirers and experienced “river wolfs”. \nEncouraged by the initiative to restore the Tamiš’s status of a waterway\, the organizers of this regatta initiated a manifestation that aims to raise people’s awareness about the importance of protection of the Tamiš and the entire Danube Basin. \nOrganizers expect this year’s regatta to attract larger number of participants\, since the regatta in last two years attracted lots of attention of boaters and river admirers. \nThe regatta will start with the gathering of participants in Pančevo and the vessels will set off between 10 and 11 AM. The participants of the regatta will carry regatta symbols and promotional material that will be distributed along the way. \nDuring the regatta\, the participants will support the aim of this manifestation by joining numerous cleaning activities of the river banks. \nSailing upstream to Opovo\, participants will have the opportunity to prove that the Tamiš can once again be a navigable river and to emphasize the importance of nautical tourism on this. \nThis initiative has included all towns and villages along the Tamiš in this eco program that aims to inspire ecological awareness of locals and emphasize the significance of protection of river course and banks. \nAfter the regatta and eco activities\, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the specialties of local fishermen with the sounds of tamburitza. \nThe Tamiš is a river of the Danube Basin that once had very live river traffic\, and during the winter season it was a winter port for boats. The former significance of the Tamiš is confirmed by the fact that once there was also a large “Fernbach“ shipyard. \n

DESCRIPTION:“The Mambo stars” will be performing in the garden of “Srednješkolski dom” in Novi Sad on August 19th\, at 21.00. Cheerful rhythms of this latin-salsa ensemble will be entertaining the visitors of the Novi Sad Music Summer. \n“The Mambo stars” is one of the first bands playing Latin music in Serbia. The band was founded 13 years ago by a group of professional jazz musicians – the members of the Big Band of RTS\, who transformed their love for Latin music into this band. \nThe “Novi Sad Music Summer 2012” starts on July 17th and lasts till August 24th. DESCRIPTION:The 4th international extreme sports competition “Winner of Belgrade” is taking place on August 17th and 18th at New Belgrade Skate Park\, where the best local and foreign competitors will be competing in skateboarding\, rollerblading\, BMX and MTB’s. \nThe Skate Park in New Belgrade is becoming the extreme sports hub during these two days and this year the park is specially equipped with new and more daring obstacles for competitors to show their best tricks and acrobatics. \nTwo days before the central manifestation there is a worming up event taking place on August 15th “Red Bull Backyard Digger” competition where mountain bike riders have the opportunity to show their tricks on dirt tracks. \nThis competition takes place on ATV / Motocross track in Surčin. On August 16th WOB and extreme sports in general are being presented in the center of Belgrade. \nCompetitors in the category up to 16 years are competing on the first day of the competition\, while the second day is reserved for the final competition of senior riders. \nVisitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique spectacle of acrobatics and tricks\, as well as performance of the brake dance group “Twister Crew”. \nThe competition is being organized by the extreme sports club “JC&Co” who have prepared a special surprise for visitors – this year’s competition is being transmitted live on the Internet\, while a special competition for visitors is being organized – “Present the Winner atmosphere”. \nThe aim of this competition is to depict the atmosphere of the WOB competition on social networks by using different multimedia. DESCRIPTION:The 29th International Jazz Festival “Nišville 2012” is being organized in the authentic ambient of Niš Fortress from August 16th till August 19th with the guests such as jazz legends Jon Cowherd Mercy Project ft. DESCRIPTION:The 4th Belgrade Regatta takes place on August 12th on the same 6\,5 kilometers long route like previous years – from Makiš to old beach at Ada Ciganlija. \nThe manifestation starts at 9.00 with the gathering of vessels at the start of the regatta\, their registration and preparations to enter the race. The regatta starts at 11.00\, and it is expected that the first boats will reach the finish at 14.00. \nSport and recreation program starts at 14.30 with a head-to-head rafting race. SUMMARY:Exhibition "Relocation - Immigrant Diary"
DESCRIPTION:The central event of this year’s program in the Artget Gallery is the exhibition “Relocation – Immigrant Diary” by Božo Vasić that will be opened on August 10th. \nThis exhibition presents photos and videos within Vasić’s latest project “Relocation – Immigrant Diary” that was created during the author’s stay in art colonies in Berlin in 2010 and in New York in 2012. The project includes two series of photos: Immigrant Diary from Berlin and Illegal immigrants in New York\, as well as videos Illegal immigrants in New York and Lost on the Grand Bazaar. \nThrough his works the author explores different political and social themes in the context of city architecture and urban surroundings. According to the author the city represents an „experimental laboratory“ where he explores various modern topics such as the lack of human rights\, immigration issues\, language barriers\, mass consumerism\, lack of individuality… \nBožo Vasić lives and works in Toronto\, Canada as a video artist\, director and photographer. He finished film direction at the Faculty of drama in Belgrade. His art works have been exhibited at numerous biennales\, galleries and museums around the world\, and his documentary films and video works have been presented at numerous festivals. Vasić also won several international awards for his films.

SUMMARY:The 46th "Gitarijada" Guitar Festival in Zaječar
DESCRIPTION:The oldest festival of unestablished rock bands\, this year’s 46th Zaječar Guitar Festival\, takes place from August 9th till August 12th\, with two festival stages in the town of Zaječar. “Gitarijada” gathers tens of thousands of participants and visitors from around the country and abroad\, thus making it one of the most significant music events in the region. \nThe Rock Stage will host Eyesburn\, Hladno Pivo\, Bajaga i Instruktori\, Obojeni program and Let 3 in the non-competitive part of the festival. \nThe members of the jury: Branimir Lokner\, Dragiša Radulović and Djorđe David\, have selected 12 bands out of 176 applicants to perform in the competitive part of the program. The competitors are: Black Division” from Osijek\, “Charna” from Banja Luka\, “My Last Suicide”\, also from Banja Luka\, than “Bas i stega”\, “Rđa”\, “Void Inn”\, “Lates” from Belgrade\, “Case Remnant” (Zrenjanin-Belgrade)\, “Black Joker” from Pirot\, “Super Confusion” from Kikinda\, “V.I.S. Novi Dan” as well as “NL8“ from Zaječar. \nThe aim of this Festival is encouragement and affirmation of music creativity of young people – rock based audience. \n\nThe history of the Festival dates back from the 60-ties of the last century\, the time when first rock bands appeared not only in the world\, but in our country as well\, and became widely popular among young people. The Festival in Zaječar\, that firstly was organized twice a year\, was launched under the initiative of the local bands. In the late 70-ties and early 80-ties Zaječar’s Guitar Festival (Gitarijada) transformed from local into the most important festival of demo rock bands in the region. \nNumerous local bands became famous at the Guitar Festival (Gitarijada) in Zaječar. Afterwards\, they got the opportunity to record their first albums and got the appropriate media support. SUMMARY:International student film camp “Interaction 2012”
DESCRIPTION:The 7th international student film camp “Interaction 2012” is taking place from August 7th till August 25th in Požega. The camp will gather participants from 15 countries around the world. \nThis August the town of Požega is the center of film events as it will host participants of this international film camp that are coming to Serbia from Iran\, Poland\, Russia\, Romania\, Great Britain\, France\, Israel\, Egypt\, China\, Slovakia\, India\, Philippines\, USA\, Macedonia and Serbia. \nThe selection commission has chosen 20 participants who will participate in numerous activities. They will be divided into four crew and they will make four documentaries in Čačak\, Užice\, Kosjerić and Požega on the theme “Arrivals-Departures”. \nUpon completion of the shooting\, all participants will edit the material for their films during next ten days. Films made during the Camp will have their premiere on August 23rd at the Cultural Centre of Požega\, and the following day at the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. \nInternational Documentary Masterclass “INTERdoc 2012” is being organized at the same time as film camp and it will gather participants from Singapore\, Italy\, USA\, Russia\, Finland and Ecuador. \nThe Camp includes rich side program intended both for participants of the Camp and all visitors. The participants will have the opportunity to present the cultures of their countries within the “INTERface” program\, while the “INTERscreen” program includes the screenings of students’ films. \nIn their free time\, the participants will visit Drvengrad\, the open air museum “Staro selo” (the Old Village) in Sirogojno\, the monasteries of Ovčar-Kablar gorge and they will cruise the river Morava. DESCRIPTION:The 10th Šabac Summer Festival takes place from August 7th till August 12th at Šabac Fortress with the performances of “Kanda\, Kodža i Nebojša”\, “Van Gogh”\, “Darkwood Dub” and numerous others. \nOne of the largest regional festivals\, Šabac Summer Festival\, is being organized at the well known location – at Šabac Fortress\, and it is expected that this year’s festival will attract even more visitors than in previous years. \nThe Fortress will play host to famous local bands “Kanda\, Kodža i Nebojša”\, “Pekinška patka”\, “Dubioza kolektiv”\, “Van Gogh”\, “Darkwood Dub” and “Hladno pivo”\, that are performing on the Main Stage\, while visitors will have opportunity to enjoy lots of great DJ performances during six days of the festival. \nThe Festival has three zones – Demo\, Fresh and Chill out zone. \nLike in previous years the Šabac Summer Festival aims to promote young local bands by giving them opportunity to prove themselves in front of larger audience on August 7th and 8th. \nFor all those eager to experience the true festival atmosphere\, there is a free festival camp opened at Old town\, just 100 meters from the Fortress where the main program takes place. \nEntrance is free for all visitors.

SUMMARY:World Harmony Run
DESCRIPTION:Participants of the most noble race in the world called “World Harmony Run”\, that each two years run around the world\, passing a flaming torch that symbolizes peace and harmony\, are stopping at Mt. Zlatibor on August 7th at 15.30 at “Kraljev Trg” (King’s Square). \nAll larger towns and cities on their route will organize a welcoming ceremony for the runners\, while the central manifestation is taking place on August 9th in Belgrade. \nThis year the torch was lit on January 1st in Hawaii\, where the race started continuing towards the North America. Europeans joined the race on February 23rd in the Portuguese town of Figueira da Foz\, and it is planned for the race to be finished on October 7th in Vienna. \nFor the first time this race was organized in 1987\, it includes over 100 countries on 6 continents\, and it gathers sportsmen and women\, recreationists\, citizens\, children and all those who would like to run carrying the harmony torch in their hands joining that way their good will and love with other world nations that also carried the torch. \n\n  \nParticipants of the race are coming to our country from Montenegro\, and they will be passing through Prijepolje\, Nova Varoš\, they will cross Mt. Zlatar and Mt. Zlatibor\, than they will continue their way through Čajetina\, Užice\, Požega\, Čačak\, Gornji Milanovac\, Ljig\, Lazarevac\, Beograd\, Obrenovac\, Šabac and Loznica. Afterwards they will continue their way through Bosnia. \n

SUMMARY:Luis Meireles at "Novi Sad Music Summer"
DESCRIPTION:The world renowned flautist Luis Meireles will be performing on August 6th\, at the “Novi Sad Music Summer”. He will be performing in front of the Novi Sad audience accompanied by the pianist Maria Jose Souze Guedes. This remarkable concert of flute and piano music will be held in the Synagogue. \nMeireles has participated at numerous international festivals as a guest performer\, soloist accompanied by an orchestra\, and as a member of chamber ensemble. He held over three hundred of concerts across Europe and he was first flute in several orchestras from Portugal\, as well as ensembles from around his homeland. \nMany Portuguese composers dedicated their works to him\, which were premiered by this artist. He has recorded six compact discs\, four of which in collaboration with pianist Maria José Souza Guedes. \nThe “Novi Sad Music Summer 2012” starts on July 17th and lasts till August 24th. Besides numerous concerts of classic music and popular music\, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of salsa\, tango\, ethno\, jazz\, klezmer and latin music. SUMMARY:Guča Brass Festival 2012
DESCRIPTION:The festival of trumpet\, one of the most famous manifestations in Serbia\, is taking place for the 52nd time from August 6th till August 12th in Guča. For a half a century authentic sound of trumpet\, great time and the unique festival atmosphere in Guča have been attracting hundreds of tourists from around the world. \nFirst three days of the trumpet festival are reserved for side manifestations\, excursions\, exhibitions\, performances of brass orchestras that are not entering the competition. \nOn Thursday\, August 9th\, and Friday\, August 10th\, the festival atmosphere raises just before the central event of the manifestation awaiting us on Saturday\, August 11th. \nThe first day of the festival will host the International Brass Band Competition on the stage set at the stadium\, with the beginning at 20.00\, followed by the concert held by DJ Shantel & Bucovina Club Orchestra. The performance of Dejan Petrović and his Big Band at 23.00 will stir up the atmosphere once again. \nFriday is reserved for the competition of young brass orchestras taking place at the stage of the Cultural Center. SUMMARY:International Swimming Marathon Jarak-Šabac
DESCRIPTION:The 43rd international swimming marathon “Jarak-Šabac” takes place on Sunday\, August 5th. Same as in previous years\, competitors from 16 countries of 4 continents are competing for victory and World Cup points. \nThis marathon is the 8th most significant swimming marathon among world’s top 24 manifestations of this type according to the calendar of the World Swimming Association. It’s promoter is a five-time world champion Giulio Travaglio from Italy. \nThis marathon is also called “Peace Race”\, and it is being organized in memory of “Bloody March” when 4\,500 citizens of Šabac ran 22 kilometers under penalty of death to the German concentration camp in Jarak in September 1941. The ones who failed were killed. \nThe marathon route on the Sava River from the village of Jarak in Srem to Šabac is 18\,8 kilometers long. DESCRIPTION:A festival of authentic folk arts and crafts from Levač\, Šumadija and the Morava River Basin (Pomoravlje)\, is being organized from August 4th till August 5th at Kalenić Monastery\, in Rekovac. \nThis year’s 43rd festival includes an exhibition of folk arts and crafts and paintings\, contest in the preparation of traditional dishes\, traditional sports contest\, as well as a competition for the young woman with the longest braids and the young man with the longest moustache. \nThis manifestation treasures and displays richness and diversity of traditional folk arts and crafts in Serbia\, that\, based on tradition\, influence the creation and development of new and modern in culture and art. \nThe festival near the Kalenić River will last till early morning\, with music\, songs and wine from the vineyards around Levač.

SUMMARY:Contemporary Russian painting in Zrenjanin
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Contemporary Russian Painters from the town of Obninsk” in the Zrenjanin National Museum will present around 50 works by 8 painters who have found their creative refuge in this town 70 kilometers from the city of Moscow. \nThe opening of the exhibition is announced for Friday\, August 3rd at 19.00\, and the exhibition will be opened till August 13th. \nArtists like Aleksandr Pavlovich Shubin and Denisova Tatiana Vasilevna have had numerous solo exhibitions over decades\, but on this occasion they will be presenting their works at this group exhibition. \nThe uniqueness of Galicin Sergei Aleksandrovich and Denisova Yelena Vladimirovna is their work on frescoes in Orthodox churches and temples. \nAmong others\, works of Denisov Vladimir Sergeyevich\, the author of Alexander Pushkin Monument in the National Park in Belkin\, and Galicina Anastasia Aleksandrovna\, the laureate of the Afanasi Kulikov Award\, will also be exhibited. \n

SUMMARY:Lovefest 2012
DESCRIPTION:One of the most visited music festivals in Central Serbia\, Love Fest\, is being organized from August 3rd till August 5th on the Summer Stage in Vrnjačka Banja. This electronic music orientated festival aims to promote this music genre in this part of the country. \nOn the first day of the Festival\, the Main Tuborg Stage will host the famous DJ James Zabiela\, known for mixture of ambient and techno sound\, followed by German DJ Alex Nigeman\, and Serbian DJ Miloš Pavlović\, who will be presenting his work to the audience. \nThe Danish DJ Noir\, one of the noticeable and famous DJs in the electro music industry\, is performing on the Main Tuborg Stage. SUMMARY:Slovak National Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Traditional Slovak National Celebration takes place from August 3rd till August 5th in Bački Petrovac. For over a half of century this town has played host to the Assembly of Slovaks from around the world. This manifestation takes place traditionally each year during the first weekend in August. \nTop Slovak ensembles and artists from numerous countries participate in the manifestation and present all the beauty and diversity of Slovak customs. \nBesides concerts of folklore ensembles\, several painting exhibitions\, there are also book presentations\, exhibition of vintage children toys\, fishing and hunting competitions\, event of preparing the mutton stew\, as well as numerous different side events. \nDifferent manifestations that announce and follow Slovak National Celebration take place in July. \nJuly 21st is reserved for a Soccer Tournament for the trophy of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Lalić. \nKulpin will also play host to different manifestations introducing the Slovak National Celebration from July 27th till July 29th\, among which Kulpin FEST is the most significant. It will host several famous local bands – Lude Krawe\, Ritam nereda\, Ortodox Celts\, Neozbiljni pesimisti\, Proces\, as well as guests from Romania – Ultimu Nivel\, Po kratkom postupku and Dok 7.

SUMMARY:Supernatural at Belef
DESCRIPTION:Supernatural is a manifestation within Belef Festival that promotes the idea of quality lifestyle through different multidisciplinary activities and is being organized from August 3rd till August 5th at Ada Huja. \nThis manifestation promotes lifestyle where environment protection\, education and culture are of utmost value presented through rich entertaining program prepared for all three sections of the Festival. \nFamous multimedia artists Marko Ladjušić\, Mladen Hrvanović and Igor Milovanović will be presenting their installations in Supernatural Park within the culture and education segments. \nLadjušić will be working on the project of transforming a part of landfill into an art piece inspired by nature. Mladen Hrvanović will also be exhibiting some of his works in Supernatural Park and will be working on an installation inspired by nature. Igor Milovanović\, creator of the visual identity of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre\, will be addressing the same theme. \nGoran Milošević\, one of the best percussionists from the region\, will be performing on August 3rd within the music section of the Festival. He will also hold a public lesson of percussion. DJ Kind of Men – Predrag Jevtić\, representative of hard electro and minimal sound\, will be performing that same day. \nThe second day of Supernatural Festival\, August 4th\, is reserved for a performance of Braća Burazeri\, both prominent designers and DJs. \nThe last day of the music program is reserved for DJ Filip who introduces public to new tendencies of electro music and hybrids of rock culture through his DJ sets. \nThis day is also dedicated to education. Different workshops about natural resources\, with special emphasis on the Danube\, will take place at Ada Huja. Also there is a green market being organized in Supernatural Park\, promoting the value of healthy eating and organic agriculture\, as well as promotion of plants\, flowers and trees.

SUMMARY:Baskerfest at Belef
DESCRIPTION:Baskerfest at Belef takes place from August 2nd till August 5th and presents performances of several street theatre groups from around Europe. The festival is being organized on several locations across the city: Republic Square\, KnezMihailova St. (Beoizlog\, in front of the SANU building\, in front of the Zepter Gallery)\, as well as in front of “Ušće” Shopping Mall. \nPerformances of street theatres include different attractions\, from classic juggling performed by circus artists with fire and animals\, through acrobatic bike riding on wires stretched between roofs of tall buildings\, to fun fair autodrome and cars flying over obstacles. \nThe program starts on August 2nd at 20h with the opening ceremony of Baskerfest at Republic Square. \nBetween August 3rd and 5th theatre groupswill perform 30 minute street plays on different locations in the city\, starting at 18h. \nBaskerfest performers are coming from Great Britain\, Argentina\, Brazil\, Spain\, Finland\, Slovenia\, Italy\, Brazil and the USA (California). Passers-by will also be entertained by Igor Trifunov from Serbia.

SUMMARY:The Frajle at "Novi Sad Music Summer"
DESCRIPTION:Charismatic girls with captivating vocals\, better known as the Frajle\, will be performing on July 29th\, in the garden of the “Srednjoškolski dom”\, within the program of the manifestation “Novi Sad Music Summer”. The concert starts at 21.00. \nThe band consisting of four young women and characterized by their unique costumes\, singing and music\, was founded in 2009. The Frajle\, who made one of the most interesting music performances on the music scene in Serbia\, will be performing their songs and interesting interpretations of famous songs by different authors from around the region. \nThe “Novi Sad Music Summer 2012” starts on July 17th and lasts till August 24th. Besides numerous concerts of classic music and popular music\, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of salsa\, tango\, ethno\, jazz\, klezmer and latin music. SUMMARY:Terratorija at Belef
DESCRIPTION:Terratorija – exhibition of art works set in public spaces is being opened on July 29th at 19.00 at the Republic Square as a part of the Belgrade Summer Festival – BELEF. \nStarting on August 15th works of the artists working on the project “Terra” will be exhibited at Republic Square and other public areas. \nThree renowned artists are making wooden sculptures that will be exhibited on public spaces from August 3rd till August 15th. \nThis type of art was forgotten over a decade ago after the closing of the wood workshop on Ada Ciganlija. That makes this project extremely significant for Belgrade and art in general. \nThe first stage of the project took place in Jun when 70 young artists from Serbia and abroad produced terracotta sculptures in this workshop.
