DESCRIPTION:The third consecutive year\, Belgrade will be joining the European capitals\, whose festive New Year’s atmosphere will followed by the traditional Christmas festival. SUMMARY:Memory Update - Ornaments of Serbian Medieval Frescoes
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Applied Art stages the exhibition “Memory Update – Ornaments of Serbian Medieval Frescoes” on the 6th of November 2013 to mark this year’s anniversary of its founding. The exhibition will be open until 31st January 2014.\nAn interest in ornament as particular visual and semantic\, as well as a linguistic phenomenon becomes more and more increasing in the visualization world of all segments of modern communication. An ornament is often used as a decoration\, a pattern\, a decorative detail in applied art and architecture but it also bears a broadest span of symbolical\, culturological and religious meanings that are susceptible to various analyses and even mathematical reading and interpretation. \nAlmost 500 tables with copies of ornaments from Serbian medieval frescoes will be displayed. Last time they were exhibited in 1961 in honour of the Congress of Byzantine Studies that took place the same year in Belgrade. The body of five hundred seventy two ornaments was left to the Museum as exquisite ornamental treasure. \nAuthor of the exhibition is Dušan Milovanović\, a museum advisor at the Museum of Applied Art in Belgrade\, and the author of the exhibition design is Ivan Mangov\, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Art and Design\, Megatrend University. \nFpr more information visit: www.mpu.rs/english/index.html \n

DESCRIPTION:The 1st KGastro festival – Young Chef Culinary Challenge 2013 is taking place from 1st Nov 2013 to 3rd Nov 2013 at the Šumadia Fair in Kragujevac\, Serbia. The Festival will gather more than 20 schools from Serbia and foreign countries (200 competitors).\nThe goal of the festival is to promote the profession and education of future chefs\, as well to introduce new trends and modern techniques\, but also to present the region\, culinary traditions\, and the achievements of regions and cities from which they come. \nThe festival will bring together young chefs from Serbia and the region (Croatia\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Montenegro\, Bulgaria\, Romania\, Macedonia\, Slovenia\, Greece\, Turkey\, Russia). The competition will be held in six competition boxes – professional kitchens. \nThe festival will also have a humanitarian character.
