DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the European Day of Languages a series of manifestations is taking place on September 26th in the Gallery “Progres”\, Knez Mihailova St. 27\, with the aim to promote over 6\,000 languages spoken worldwide. \nOn that occasion numerous activities for children\, TV and radio programs\, language lessons and conferences will be organized\, all with the aim to promote language learning and to alert the public to the importance the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe. \nThe European Day of Languages has been celebrated since the European Year of Languages in 2001\, when the Council of Europe declared a European Day of Languages to be celebrated on 26th of September each year. Since then it has been organized in 47 member countries of the Council of Europe. \nThis year’s European Day of Languages is being organized by the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade and Owen Owen Languages and Services from Belgrade.

SUMMARY:The 53rd October salon
DESCRIPTION:October Salon\, the biggest international exhibition of contemporary art in Serbia\, is being organized for the 53rd time from October 22nd till November 4th under the slogan Good Life\, Physical narratives / spatial imagination\, in the ex building of the Institute of Geodesy in Karadjordjeva street\, 48. \nAround 40 artists from Finland\, Germany\, Sweden\, Slovakia\, Turkey\, Bulgaria\, Croatia\, Estonia\, the Netherlands\, Great Britain and Serbia are taking part in this year’s October Salon. \nTheir works will present a fusion of different arts – sculptures\, installations\, films\, paintings\, photographs\, stories\, essays\, interviews\, comic books\, documents\, research projects\, public discussions and art interventions\, as well as an entire parliament. \nThis year’s location of the Salon is the ex building of the Institute of Geodesy in Karadjordjeva street\, number 48. One of the most beautiful and yet one of the most neglected historic buildings in Belgrade was built in 1907\, according to the plans of architects Andra Stevanović and Nikola Nestorović\, in the spirit of eclecticism with elements of Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau.

SUMMARY:Belgrade Flower Festival 2012
DESCRIPTION:The Third Belgrade Flower Festival is being held on September 22-23 in the Manjež park\, and its goal is to stimulate and inspire the initiatives and ideas for a better life in a more green and beautiful and Belgrade. \nThe seven zones of the festival – osVRT\, VRT VRTova\, VRTeška\, VRToglavica\, VRTlog\, izVRTanje and VRTić (vrt – eng. garden) – will host the works of a number of participants inspired by nature\, flowers\, environment and modern ecological concepts of urban design. \nThe festival has its music program\, so in the afternoon the visitors will be able to dance tango\, watch the acrobatics of Cirkusfera (Circusphere) and listen to the „Horkestar“ and „Shpiritus Movensin“ in the VRTlog zone. \nMoreover\, they will be able to enjoy some visual arts as well: the exhibitions of “Teratorija” Colony and some moving pictures on the big screen. \nThe festival also provides an oportunity for recreation\, relaxation and enjoying a variety of scents and flavors – from coffee to spices. \nThe special emphasis on the Flower festival is the educational program in ecology\, landscape architecture\, horticulture\, organic farming and urban development\, and there will also be some creative workshops for children.

SUMMARY:European Heritage Days 2012
DESCRIPTION:“Gift giving and endowments in Serbia” is the theme of this year’s European Heritage Days in Serbia\, and its central event is being held on the 22nd of September in Kraljevo. \nThe goal of this year’s theme is to draw attention to a somewhat neglected tradition in Serbia – giving for the welfare of the people and homeland. \nKraljevo is not randomly selected to host this year’s central event\, because it is a city in the area in which the roots of the Serbian endowment tradition can be traced\, but also the oldest endowments in Serbia: the Studenica monastery\, Stefan Nemanja’s endowment built in 1190\, as well as Gradac and Žiča monasteries. \nThe event’s program in Kraljevo will present a rich endowment tradition in this area: from the medieval monuments of exceptional spiritual\, historical\, architectural and artistic value\, through the endowments of the 19th and the early 20 century\, to the most recent examples of donations\, like the Legacy of Olivera Radojković Čolovic (bequesting her family house and a collection of paintings she has proved that the noble endowment tradition still lives). \nThe continuing of these noble traditions contributes to the presentation\, spreading and preservation of national cultural values as well as the development of Serbian culture in Europe. \nEuropean Heritage Days are a great European manifestation that each September presents the heritage as a common cultural inheritance of the peoples of Europe\, the diversity of their cultures\, traditions and customs. In Serbia\, it is held since 2002 and represents a kind of a holiday of culture and tourism.

SUMMARY:Zrenjanin Beer days 2012
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Zrenjanin Beer Days are being held from the 20th to 23th of September. For the 27 th time\, this event will bring joy to beer and fun lovers\, and the organizers promise yet another great festival with performances of famous bands from Serbia and the entire region. \nOn the main stage\, located on Žitni Square\, the “Tribute Bend”\, “Galija” and “Kameleon band” will perform on the first night. \nOn Friday\, at the same location\, we’ll see a local band called “Raskršće”\, and the performances of the Croation star Goran Karan and his Vagabundo band will follow\, as well as the performances of the „Ego“ „tamburitza“ orchestra. \nOn the third day of the Festival\, the music program on the main stage starts with the concert of another local band “Šišarke”\, and the performances of Tanja Jovićević and „Rič Bič“ will follow. Undoubtedly Dejan Petrovic and Big Band\, that perform the same night\, are expected to create the most cheerful atmosphere. \nOn the last day of the festival the performance of a Zrenjanin based band “Empatija” is scheduled\, as well as the concerts of “Neverne bebe”. Folk star Vesna Zmijanac will close the Beer days festival in Zrenjanin this year. \nTraditionally\, visitors will be able to compete in quick beer drinking and enjoy a number of additional programs.

SUMMARY:Belgrade mummy welcomes the first guests
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the European Heritage Days we’ll have the unique opportunity to see after a longer break the Belgrade mummy exhibited in the Archaeological collection of Faculty of Philosophy\, on weekends in September\, starting on September 22nd. \nExhibited in a special glass case for storing and exhibiting of the mummy\, the Belgrade mummy will welcome the first visitors on Saturday\, September 22nd. \nNesmin\, better known as the Belgrade mummy\, is surely the unique citizen of our capital city who “arrived” to Belgrade in 1888 accompanied by Hadži Pavle Ridjički who bought the mummy during his trip to Egypt “not for himself\, but for Serbian people”. \nThe significance of this mummy is the fact that Nesmin revealed to scientists an entirely new\, more profound\, insight into the understanding of the legendary Egyptian Book of the Dead. \nGuided tours will be at the disposal of all archeology and history admirers on weekends\, from 12.00 to 20.00\, and tours start every hour. SUMMARY:Exhibition "Artist's Film International"
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Artist’s Film International” is opened from September 21st till October 15th in the Pop-Up Gallery in Belgrade (Republic Square No. 5\, entrance trough Beoizlog). Video works of eleven artists from all over the world will be presented in the Gallery. \nThe Belgrade audience will have the opportunity to see the newest video productions from Hong Kong\, Vietnam\, SAD\, Turkey\, Italy\, England\, Argentina\, New Zealand\, Germany and Belgrade. \nSome of the artists\, whose works will be featured at the exhibition\, are: Alehandro Sesarko\, Liu Chuang\, Dan Finsel\, Ben Hagari\, Anetta Mona Chisa and Lucia Tkacova\, Sefer Memisoglu\, Djanluka and Masimilijano de Serio\, Srivana Spong\, Corin Sworn\, Ngujen Trin\, Aleksandar Jestrović Jamesdin. \nThe exhibition is the result of an international project that was launched by the Whitechapel Gallery from London\, several years ago. \nWorks of film\, animation and video artists were nominated by famous galleries worldwide\, creating an informal network of artists\, curators and institutions\, which keeps expanding.

DESCRIPTION:Just like every year on the 21 of September on the holiday of Nativity the famous Šabac fair is held\, even though it officially lasts one day it always goes on for at least a few more. \nFor the duration of the fair\, Šaabac is covered with tents in which you can buy many different products. There are also tents where you can party until morning with all kinds of music or you can go on one of the carousel attractions. \nMerchants from all around the country and around come to offer the visitors clothes\, handmade objects toys\, barrels\, landmarks of the past \, liceder hearts\, candy\, “Orašnice” (a kind of walnut cake) and many other things. \nThe people of Šabac say that if you come to the fair and don’t buy anything you will have bad luck for a year.

SUMMARY:"Soulfly" in Gun Club
DESCRIPTION:Max Cavalera\, former vocalist of the band “Sepultura”\, is performing with his current band “Soulfly” in the Gun Club in Belgrade on Thursday\, September 20th\, within the Max Cavalera tour. \nThis concert is unique as the famous Max Cavalera will share the stage with his sons and their bands: “Incite” led by Richard Cavalera\, and “Lody Kong” whose members are also Zyon and Igor Cavalera. \n“Soulfly” is an American metal band founded in 1997 in Arizona\, after Max Caravela left “Sepultura”. SUMMARY:Belgrade Philharmonic's 90th season opening
DESCRIPTION:The Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra opens the 2012/2013 season on Thursday\, the 20th of September in Kolarac\, with a concert from the “New Year Cycle” program. \nThe Orchestra will be conducted by the permanent guest conductor Alexander Rahbari\, with the mezzosoprano Sanja Anastasia as the soloist. The orchestra will perform the first symphonic works of Bernstein and Mahler (Jeremiah and Titan). \nBy celebrating the Hebrew New Year\, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra continues the tradition of the New Year Cycle concerts. Again\, the orchestra will wish a happy New Year five times this season – according to the Jewish\, Islamic\, Gregorian\, Julian and Chinese calendars. \nAlexander Rahbari is one of the followers of Hans Swarowsky and former Karajan’s assistant in the Berlin Philharmonic. Already in his first visit to the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra\, the charismatic conductor established a distinctive connection with the orchestra\, which he described as “young\, fresh and motivated”. \nAmong the New Year concert programs\, particulary attractive are the hilarious musical-comedian duo Igudesman and Joo\, who will perform for the Julian New Year\, as well as the traditional New Year concert program titled Happy Sixties and Seventies\, in which the Philharmonic will perform arrangements of the most popular songs by ABBA and The Beatles. \nA novelty is that the concerts within this cycle will be held on Thursdays\, unlike all other concerts\, which are held on Fridays. \nTickets are available at the Kolarac box office.

SUMMARY:Exhibition of paintings of the comrade president
DESCRIPTION:From September 18 to November 4\, the Museum of Yugoslav History will host a unique exhibition of paintings from the interior of the Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito’s residence. \nThe author of the exhibition is dr. Nenad Radić who aimed to highlight the personal taste of Josip Broz Tito through paintings that were a part of the atmosphere of his private residence. \nThe presented works reflect the unique character of this collection\, formed from 1946 to 1977. \nThe exhibition contains an unusual combination of European and Yugoslav artists ranging from XVII to XX century – in the same proportion they were once present in the former presidential residence in Belgrade’s Užicka Street No. 15 (destroyed in the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999). \nA detailed insight into the appearance and layout of President Tito’s residence will be shown. \nVisitors of the exhibition will see: “The Portrait of an unknown man”\, a painting by a French author dating from year 1840 which Tito had in his bedroom\, “Giving a Tenth” by Rembrandt’s student Gerbrand van den Eeckhout\, “The Battle for Stubica 1575”\, a monumental canvas of Krsto Hegedušić dating from year 1949\, which was once housed in Tito’s Cabinet. \nIt is sure that a lot of attention shall go to the never before exhibited portait of Jovanka Broz from year 1959\, made on the Brioni island by Antonije Agustinčić in the Carrara marble. \nThe exhibition will be open for visitors every day except Mondays\, from 10 to 16h. \n

Start is scheduled for 18.00 in front of the Delta City Shopping Mall\, and the race is open for everyone interested in participating. \nAfter the start in front of the Delta City Shopping Mall in Jurija Gagarina Street\, runners will continue the race across the Ada Bridge\, to the intersection near the turning for the Hippodrome\, from where they will cross the bridge again to return to the finish line\, in front of the Delta City Shopping Mall. \nSince this is an open type race\, everyone interested in participating can apply at the Facebook page or at the web site of the Athletic Federation of Serbia or at several locations in the city in Nike stores. \nOn-line applications are possible till September 15th\, while runners can also apply on the day of the race till 17.00 hours. \nAll runners will get special T-shirts that must be worn during the race\, and if you’re entering the race as a group\, all members of your team will also get sweat bands. \nThe race has two categories – absolute placement men and absolute placement women.

DESCRIPTION:A promotional bicycle ride is being held in Belgrade\, on Sunday September 16\, within the European Mobility Week. \nCyclists will ride along a 10.4 km long route from Tašmajdan to Topčider park via the Branko and Ada bridges. SUMMARY:Red Bull Tricycles Race 2012
DESCRIPTION:The third Red Bull Tricycles Race in a row is taking place in Belgrade\, in Višnjićeva street\, on September 15th starting at noon. The unofficial slogan of the race is “Make a tricycle and hit the downhill”. \nAround 64 brave contesters will be showing their skills at the fastest track till now with their new tricycles that will have to go faster than others in order to qualify for the next round of the competition. They will be competing in teams of 4. \nThe Tricycle race is considered to be “original Serbian extreme sport” that originated from the tradition of making and riding tricycles in Belgrade during the fifties and the sixties of the last century. \nThe first Red Bull Tricycles Race was held in 2008\, and the second in 2012. At this year’s race\, Nikola Vučković\, the winner of the last race\, will be defending his champion title. Besides him\, his younger brother Miroslav\, the winner of the race in 2008\, will have the opportunity to win back the title. \nThe most interesting thing about this sport is the creativity of making tricycles. Several boards\, screws\, a steering wheel\, three small wheels\, a little bit of imagination\, courage\, skill and love for extreme sports is all you need for great fun in Dobračina street. \nBut it is also necessary to apply for the competition\, so everyone who would like to participate in this race can apply at the site www.redbull.rs. When making a tricycle\, competitors must keep in mind that the size of a tricycle must be within the dimensions 60×80 cm\, with three wheels with diameter up to 10 cm and with a steering wheel.

SUMMARY:The Days of Mokranjac 2012
DESCRIPTION:The oldest festival of choral music in Serbia\, dedicated to the famous Serbian composer and conductor Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac (1856-1914)\, is being held for the 47th time from 14th to 20th September in Negotin. \nMokranjac’s birth house in Negotin The festival opens on Friday the 14th in Mokranjac’s birth house\, and the opening oration will be performed by the youngest Serbian academician and the most performed contemporary Serbian composer – Isidora-Žebeljan. \nAfter that\, we’ll see the opening if the “Sava Šumanović” exhibition in the galery of the Cultural Center and the contest of choirs from Serbia\, Croatia\, Macedonia and Slovenia. \nOn the second day of the festival\, after the opening of a painting exhibition in the gallery of the Culture Center at 19 h\, the “Salutaris” choir from Belarus will perform. They won the last year’s festival contest of choirs. At 22h in the Music Pavilion\, the visitors will enjoy the music of Belgrade Jazz Trio with guests. \nOn Sunday\, September 16\, in the Church of the Holy Trinity\, this temple’s choirs will perform the Holy Liturgy\, while in the church of the Holy Trinity in Mokranje\, starting at 11h\, the female chamber choir of the „Mokranjac” musical school will perform. \nIn the evening\, the festival returns to the Cultural Center with two ballets: The Ballad of the Moon and A Valet’s Broom. \n  \n  \nThe Days of Mokranjac On the fourth day of the festival starting from 20h\, The Brodsky Quartet from London and Isidora Žebljan will perform in the Cultural Center. \n  \nOn Tuesday\, September 18\, the Montenegrin violinist and maestro of the London Symphony Orchestra\, Roman Simovic\, will perform starting at 20h. \n  \nThis year on the Days of Mokranjac festival\, Wednesday is reserved for The Double Bass Ensemble BASS CHOURS and the Novi Sad Big band that combines pop and jazz music. \n  \nOn the last day of the festival\, the performance of the Mokranjac String Quartet starts at 19h on the small stage of the „Krajina“ Cinema of 19 h\, \, while “The Saint Prince Lazar’s Passion” by the composer Rajko Maksimović will be performed at 21h in the Cultural Center. \n

SUMMARY:Cabbage Festival in Mrčajevci
DESCRIPTION:The 10th Cabbage Festival is taking place in Mrčajevci near Čačak from September 14th till September 16th with a competition in the preparation of the clay pot of cabbage (wedding cabbage)\, sounds of traditional music instruments\, singing and dancing. \n“Fijakerijada” (Carriage Festival) is being organized also on the first day of the Cabbage Festival\, followed by the manifestation “Obrenovanje” when numerous singers will perform aside the national ensemble “Kolo”. \nThe final competition starts on Saturday\, September 15th\, and amateurs\, foodies and top chefs are competing for Gold\, Silver and Bronze pot. \nBesides the competition in the preparation of the clay pot of cabbage\, a football match between the local football club “Orlovac” and the representation of popular singers is also announced. \nIn the evening all visitors will enjoy the concerts of Lepa Lukić and Radiša Urošević\, while numerous cultural and art manifestations\, exhibition of folk art and craft\, agricultural exhibition\, should not be missed.

SUMMARY:GrapeBall in Vršac 2012
DESCRIPTION:The Grape Harvest Days\, an old manifestation in the city of Vršac is traditionally held on the third weekend of September. This year it takes place on the 14\, 15 and 16th of September. This is the 55th edition of the event in the city that celebrates its fertile vineyards. \nThe day before\, on the 13th of September\, on the lookout near the Church of Saint Cross\, “Grožđebal” (Grape ball) will be greeted starting from 17h with free wine\, sausages and „tamburitza“ orchestras. \nThe main program starts on 14 th September from 17h when some cultural programs will be organized in the city center. Visitors will enjoy fireworks\, grapes and wine exhibition\, the concert of Croatian star Severina and a Miss Grape Harvest 2012 contest. \nOver the weekend\, there will also be a rich program for children. The young ones will enjoy a masked ball on Saturday at noon\, and in the afternoon the “Knights of wine” will take the stage . After that\, the visitors will enjoy the concert of a famous local singer Ana Štajdohar. \nOn Sunday\, 16 September\, at noon\, the attractive carnival parade will pass through the city\, after which parachutes with grapes shall be dropped from an airplane flying above the city. \nThe festival program on Gradski trg (Town Square)\, starts at 17h and ends with a concert of the Belgrade Jazz Orchestra performance. \nThe first wine exhibition in Vršac was held in 1857 in the “The two keys“ restaurant\, and the first written document about wine is from 1494. year (when Hungarian King Vladislav II paid 10.5 ducats for a barrel of wine from Vršac). \nSince then the wine from this region is widely known\, and the Vršac wine route passes through it nowadays.

SUMMARY:Royal Carnival in Banja Koviljača
DESCRIPTION:The second Royal Carnival in Banja Koviljača is being organized on September 14th in beautiful ambient of the park and numerous visitors are expected this year. \nJust like once Banja Koviljača had a regal status at the time of king Aleksandar Karadjordjević\, today it still treasures the spirit of those times long gone and long carnival tradition in our country. \nCarnival will be opened with a parade of participants through the central part of the park and symbolical balloon release\, followed by the parade of carnival troupes. \nWith first appearance of stars\, the carnival is moving to the “Kur-salon”\, great hall of the Spa\, where the Great Masked Ball will be opened and everyone present will have opportunity to show their amazing costumes. This outstanding building\, where the first casino in the Balkans was opened before the World War II\, is not to be missed. \nThe organizers are expecting a number of participants to exceed the last year’s participation of 30 troupes of majorettes from 15 countries around the world and the region. \nHow significant this carnival will be testifies the last year’s visit of the representatives of the Federation of European Carnival Cities (FECC) who will be taking into consideration the inclusion of this carnival in the map of significant world carnival destinations.

SUMMARY:La MaMa cantata theatre play
DESCRIPTION:Famous New York avantgarde theatre LaMaMa is performing in Belgrade on September 13th with the beginning at 20.00\, at the hall Americana of Belgrade Youth Center. The entrance is free for all visitors. \nOn the occasion of the opening of the new-founded Studio – Performing Arts Laboratory within the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade\, the famous New York avant-garde theatre – LaMaMa is visiting Belgrade celebrating their 50th anniversary. \nThe show “La MaMa cantata” is a history of the New York avant-garde scene\, presented through the life of one of its main characters – Ellen Stuart. \nAfter the play\, on September 14th\, artists will organize a workshop with the FDA students. Further on the Studio – Performing Arts Laboratory will organize different projects including international cooperation\, seminars and workshops\, as well as research projects of the FDA students and the University of Arts. \nLa MaMa Theater was founded by the legendary Ellen Stewart in 1961 in New York. Her vision of the theatre that supports artists of all nations and cultures still today continues to grow in New York. To date La MaMa Theatre has presented over 3\,200 theatre plays and represents a significant part of the New York cultural life\, and world as well. \nEach year La MaMa produces 50 to 60 plays\, most of which are world premieres and include artists from more than 70 countries. They won over 30 Obie awards as well as numerous others significant international and American awards. \n  \nLa MaMa Theatre is well known for the internationalization of the American avant-garde. Ellen Stewart initiated and supported the creative work of numerous interesting theatre artists\, such as Bob Wilson\, Tadeusz Kantor and many others\, and she also worked with Serbian artists – Slobodanka Ceca Aleksić\, Ljubiša Ristić\, Ivana Vujić\, Sonja Vukićević.
