SUMMARY:The Ex and Bernays Propaganda\, concert
DESCRIPTION:The Dutch punk band “The Ex” and Macedonian postpunk band “Bernays Propaganda” perform in Belgrade on October the 25th at 8PM in the Cultural Center REX\, within the music warm-up for this year’s “Free Zone” film festival. \nBelgrade concert is a part of the Dutch band’s tour in which they are accompanied by Macedonian “Bernays Propaganda”. \n“The Ex” exists for about 33 years. They started as a true hard core punk band and the band members drew straws to decide who will play which instrument. Today\, they can boast with 26 albums and more than 1500 concerts held in all the continents. \nMacedonian band “Bernays Propaganda” says they play the dance new wave/post-punk music\, but they are actually a real pearl of rock’n’roll in the Balkans. They were named after Edward Bernays\, the man who established the Public Relations business\, and they are characterized by clearly defined critical attitude toward the modern world. \nTicket price is 400 RSD. DESCRIPTION:From 21 st till 28 th of October\, the Belgrade Book Fair is being held for the 57th time in the Belgrade Fair. SUMMARY:"Russia's most beautiful songs" in Sava Center
DESCRIPTION:In the Great Hall of the Sava Center\, a gala concert for the Belgrade Libertation Day is being held on October the 19th at 8PM. The stars of the Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater\, Russian Army Choir “Alexandrov” and soloists from the Russian Federation and Serbia will sing the most beautiful songs of Russia. \nBelgrade was liberated by the National Liberation Movement of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Red Army in the Belgrade Offensive\, one of the largest and most important battles in the Balkans during World War II. \nThe concert participants are: Petr Glubokiy – who is the “imperial bass” of the Bolshoi Theater for 40 years now\, Konstantin Shushakov – the young star of the Bolshoi Theater with lavish\, aristocratic baritone\, Sergey Putilin – the “golden tenor” of the “Alexandrov”ensemble\, and Ivanna – a famous Russian folk singer\, some of whose songs are written by Goran Bregovic \, the famous musician from this region. \nSince Serbian singers performed numerous Russian songs with great success\, they will join the Russian colleagues on stage. In a career that lasts for decades\, Paco de Lucia has spread the glory of the flamenco music worldwide. \nHe has worked with some of the most famous musicians of our time\, such as the pianist Chick Corea\, the guitar players like John McLaughlin\, Larry Coryell and Al Di Meola\, as well as a with the famous Bryan Adams\, with whom he collaborated on the soundtrack for „ Don Juan de Marco“ film. \nThe first concert in Serbia\, Paco de Lucia held in 2010. on the Guitar Art Festival\, and he is currently working on a new album. \nThe ticket prices are 1800\, 2300\, 2800\, 3200 RSD. \nThe 44th Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS) is being organized from October the 11th till October the 21st on several locations in the city\, under the slogan “The Siege of Belgrade”. DESCRIPTION:In the heart of Šumadija lies Topola at the foothill of Oplenac\, the home of the famous manifestation “The Oplenac Grape Harvest” organized each October in honor of grape\, wine\, vineyards and diligent winemakers\, that this year is being organized for the 49th time from October 12th till October 14th. \nSince 1958 the Oplenac Grape Harvest has been organized traditionally each year in the central streets of Topola\, soon to be accompanied by the manifestation Sabor of Serbian folk art that this year is celebrating the 40th anniversary. \nDuring three days these significant manifestations will occupy the center of Topola\, from the Wine Square\, Wine Street all the way to Karadjordje’s town at Oplenac\, while numerous visitors will enjoy the famous Šumadija hospitality\, savory specialties of traditional cuisine and grape and wine tasting. \nThe Oplenac Grape Harvest is followed by numerous side manifestations such as the competition in wine and rakija tasting\, agricultural\, fruit and vegetable exhibitions\, as well as different cultural and art manifestations aiming to preserve rich cultural tradition and local customs. \nSurely the most significant is Sabor of Serbian folk art that has been organized every year since 1972 at the same time as the Oplenac Harvest. DESCRIPTION:The 44th Belgrade Music Festival is being organized from October 11th till October 21st on several locations in Belgrade\, under the slogan “The Siege of Belgrade”\, with guest performances of numerous renowned soloist musicians and orchestras\, while the significance and necessity of the Bemus and similar festivals will be discussed at the conference of regional festival representatives\, representatives of the European Festival Association and the European Commission. \nThe manifestation will be opened on October 11th by the “No Borders Orchestra” led by the conductor Premil Petrović and the solo pianist Simon Trpčeski. \nA series of concerts is taking place at the Ilija M. SUMMARY:The 21st Festival of Ethnological Film
DESCRIPTION:The 21st International Festival of Ethnological Film is taking place from October 11th till October 15th\, organized by the Ethnographic museum in Belgrade\, and on that occasion visitors can see the latest ethnographic and anthropological films. \nTraditionally\, the festival will present films in two categories – 21 film in the competition part\, as well as 15 films in the informative section. DESCRIPTION:Ballet “North Fairy Tale”\, directed by Staša Zurovac and made on the music of Edvard Grieg\, which was composed to Henrik Ibzen’s play “Peer Gynt”\, opens the new season in Madlenianum opera and theater on October 8th. \nThe Madlenianum opera scene will present a fairly tale interpretation of eternal love and self-knowledge\, accompanied by love\, suffering and awaiting of the beloved one. Ibsen’s drama and Grieg’s music follow Peer Gynt’s\, the leading character’s path of growing up and self-discovery\, through numerous unusual situations\, landscapes\, encounters with people\, leading him to the moment of maturity. \nThe leading roles are played by ballet dancers Miloš Marjan as Peer Gynt\, Bojana Žegarac as Solveig\, Olga Olćan as Anitra\, Sanja Ninkovic as Ingrid\, Danica Arapović as Mother Ase. \nVocal soloists are Nenad Nenić\, baritone\, Tanja Obrenovic\, mezzo-soprano and Jasmina Stojković\, the soprano in the vocal role of Solveig. \nThe Madlenianum orkrestar\, under the baton of maestro Stanko Jovanović is performing the outstanding Greig’s symphonic music\, composed for Henrik Ibsen’s drama with the same name. \n

DESCRIPTION:American alternative musician John Paul Keith performs on October the 7 th in Belgrade’s Gun Club. A day earlier\, Keith will perform in “Mojo” Club\, in Senta. \nAmerican rocker will present the Belgrade audience with his second album titled “The Man That Time Forgot\,” which was released last summer. \nDuring his career\, John Paul Keith has founded numerous bands. This last album is\, however\, signed only by his own name. \nWith the band “Viceroys” (V-Roys)\, he began his career in the 90’s in Knoxville. Those days did not last long and Keith moved to Nashville where he formed the band called “Nevers” with whom he recorded an album that has never been released to the market. \nAfter a while\, he established a new band called “Stateside” which became Ryan Adams’ touring band. \nKeith later to Memphis\, where he formed “The One Four Fives” in 2007 \, and two years later\, they released a fantastic debut album “Spills And Thrills”. \nThe peak of Keith’s career so far is the album “The Man That Time Forgot”\, in which he put all his experience of years working and playing with a number of bands.

SUMMARY:The Public Competition of the "Omladina" Festival
DESCRIPTION:A new chance for the young\, after 20 years! A once legendary festival “Omladina” (Youth) in Subotica is back in the spotlight this year\, and it has announced a public competition for the new and original works by composers and songwriters from Serbia and the region. \nThe competing authors must be 27 years or younger. \nA manifestation in which a number of the most famous bands and singers from the entire former Yugoslavia have started their careers shall be held on the 8th of December with TV and radio broadcast\, and all the authors of the selected compositions will have the oportunity to perform in the festival. \nThe authors of the songs performed in the festival shall be awarded with 15.000 dinars\, while the winners of The Award of the Jury and The Audience Award shall get 120.000 dinars as well. \nBeside that\, the organisers guarantee the authors and performers of the selected compositions the publishing of the songs on a CD\, program catalogue\, poster and the rest of the festival’s press material. \nCompositions sent to the competition must not be previously published or publicly performed. \nThe competition is open until the 1st of October\, and the final list will be announced by the 15th of October on the festival’s web site. \nCompositions can be sent by post or by mail\, and the more detailed conditions of the competition can be found on the www.festivalomladina.com website.

SUMMARY:Joy of Europe 2012
DESCRIPTION:The traditional manifestation of children’s creativity\, “Joy of Europe”\, is being held in Belgrade from 1st to 5 th October\, for the 43rd time. This year’s theme of the event is in the verses by Duško Radović: “Let the streams flow into the rivers wide\, allow the tributaries to develop left and right”. \nDuring the five days of the largest and the oldest children’s event in the country\, kids from all over Europe will have a chance to meet\, hang out and presents themselves through various forms of artistic expression. \nThe program involves art schools\, cultural centers\, clubs\, associations and groups. Almost all European countries have had their young ones participating in the event. During the festival\, they are staying with the families of the kids of the same age from Belgrade schools. \nOn the first day of the festival\, the program starts at 11:30h with the projections of animated movies for kids in the Children’s Cultural Center of Belgrade (DKCB)\, followed by the exhibition of children’s art works. In the afternoon\, the Carnival parade will go from the Republic Square to the Kalemegdan fortress. The festival officially opens in the Kalemegdan park. \nOn the second day of the event\, four concerts will be held in the great hall of the DKCB. \nThe third festival day begins with the “Captain John Peoplefoks” play for kids at 11h\, followed by the children’s party at 18h. The penultimate day of the festival is of the entertaining and recreational type\, and it starts at 10h at Ada Ciganlija. \n“Joy of Europe” finishes at October the 5th\, with a big concert in the Sava Center\, starting at 20 h.

SUMMARY:The Third Iraqi Cultural Week in Belgrade
DESCRIPTION:The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Belgrade is organizing “The Third Iraqi Cultural Week” from the 1st till the 5th of October. Painters\, film makers and musicians from Iraq will present the Iraqi culture at several locations throughout the city in order to bring closer their culture to the citizens of Belgrade. \nThe opening ceremony is taking place at Sava Center\, on October 1st\, starting at 8PM\, with the performances of dance companies and musicians\, and followed by a fashion show of the famous Iraqi fashion company. \nThe next day Mohammed al Daradji’s documentary film “In my mother’s arms” will be shown in the Cinematheque\, starting at 8PM. \nThe exhibition by the Iraqi artist Riyadh al Apricot is being opened on October 3rd\, at 8PM in the Central Hall of Serbian Army\, followed by the concert of Selim Salim accompanied by the Army orchestra. \nThe folklore ensemble “Basra” is performing on October 4th\, at 8PM\, at the same premises. \nThe Third Iraqi Cultural Week will be closed with a performance of the ensemble “Munir Bashir” at 8PM\, followed by the ceremony when honors and gifts will be awarded.

DESCRIPTION:The European Bat Night is being held on Saturday\, September 29th\, near the Gallery of the Natural History Museum at Kalemegdan. \nCitizens will have the opportunity to get familiar with characteristics of these animals\, learn about their relationship with humans and find out how true the stories about their supernatural characteristics are. \nThis year significantly higher number of bats appeared in Belgrade\, but people don’t know that actually they are a protected natural rarity. People generally fear them\, which is why this event is an ideal opportunity to change the unfairly poor image people have about these mammals. \nEuropean Bats Night Initiative was created under the Agreement on the Conservation of European Bats (1991)\, which is a part of the international Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (Bonn Convention\, which in Serbia entered into force on March 1st\, 2008).

On the same evening\, we’ll see the performances of the „Tamburitza players of Vojvodina“ (a string orchestra) and the „Niagara“ band. \nSaturday brings joy to the youngest because the children’s plays “Brave tiger”\, and “Doctor Enciclopedius” as wll as magicians and clowns performing “A thousand wonders” will be on dispay on the city square. \nAt 4PM the “Brankovo kolo” club performs\, and in the evening Ksenija Mijatovic and the stars of the “First Voice of Serbia” shall step on the stage\, and the concert of the „Love Hunters“ band begins fifteen minutes after the midnight. \nThe final day of the event also begins with theater performances for children\, and the kids’ music festival “Licidersko srce” (Licider heart) is being held at 4PM. \nThe concerts start at 8:30PM. “Plavi ptičić” (The Blue Bird) and Gabor Lengyel Retro Party Band will perform followed by the famous ex-YU rock star Dado Topić. \n“Karlovac vintage” is an event that followed the tradition of a folk ceremony that celebrated the beginning of the grape harvest. This event was restored in 1992 after a 20-year break\, and is being held on the last weekend of September or the first weekend of Оctober ever since.

SUMMARY:One Love Jamaica
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence\, the Belgrade Youth Center (Dom Omladine) is presenting a program named “One love Jamaica”. \nA film about Bob Marley is being shown on the 28th and the 29th of October\, and a Jamaican singer Ras Abraham and the Serbian Del Arno band will perform in the musical part. \nThe „ Bob Marley- Legend“ film is being shown on Friday at 8PM in the Great Hall of the Belgrade Youth Center. The film\, starring Bob Marley and Esther Аnderson Jamaican\, is directed by Esther Anderson and Gian Godoy. \nIt shows the formation of a music legend through intimate scenes shot in 1970. The author of the film and one of the lead roles holder skillfully builds an a connection between Reggae and Rasta music launching an international career and the recognizable image of Bob Marley and the Wailers. \nThis is the official film of the commemoration of Bob Marley’s death worldwide. Last year in London it had the world premiere. \nEsther Anderson is a multi-talented artist from Jamaica who in the sixties participated in the development of “Island Records”\, the record company that launched the music of Bob Marley and the Wailers\, Mili Small\, Jimmy Cliff and many others. Esther is the author of the most famous photography of Bob Marley . \nIn the „Americana“ hall on September the 29th\, the Jamaican reggae artist Ras Abraham performs. The musician currently living in Germany is the creator of the famous reggae anthem “Johnny too bad. He has performed with the Wailers\, Peter Tosh\, Sly Dunbar. \nAt 10:30PM\, The Serbian “Del Arno Band ” goes on the stage. They are the pioneers of Reggae music in our country. \nTicket price for the screening of the film is 100 RSD\, while a ticket for both concerts costs 500 RSD.

DESCRIPTION:The 10th International Comics Salon is being held from September 27th till September 30th in Belgrade on several locations with numerous guests from Serbia and abroad. \nLike every year\, this year’s salon combines competitive and rich festival program\, with comics and illustration workshops\, comic exchange\, lectures by prominent cartoonists\, meetings with special guests\, presentation of publishers\, as well as numerous exhibitions of winning authors. \nGuests of this year’s Salon are Roberto Diso (Italy)\, Sylvain Cordurié (France)\, Dražen Kovačević (Serbia)\, Leonid Pilipović (Serbia)\, Živorad Radivojević (Serbia)\, Vladimir Krstić Laci (Serbia)\, Antonio Altarriba (Spain) guest of the Instituto Cervantes Belgrade \, Andriana Ružić (Serbia) and Zoran Djukanović (Serbia). \nCeremonial opening of the exhibition of awarded works is scheduled for Thursday\, September 27th\, at 7 pm\, followed by a gala awards ceremony.
