DESCRIPTION:“Kustendorf” 2013 \nInternational Film and Music Festival Kustendorf will take place from 16th to 22ndJanuary 2013 in Drvengrad in Mokra Gora\, Serbia. The special guest of the sixth Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival will be the renowned Italian actress Monica Bellucci. \nKustendorf 2013 will welcome all participating film authors and actors\, as well as numerous young film students\, authors\, and many distinguished guests from the international film world. \nMore than 400 films of young authors and students from all over the world applied for the participation in COMPETITION PROGRAMME of the Kustendorf. \nEmir Kusturica announced that the final selection includes 28 films from 18 countries: Cuba\, Denmark\, France\, Germany\, Israel\, Korea\, Mexico\, Montenegro\, The Netherlands\, Philippines\, Peru\, Poland\, Portugal\, Singapore\, Serbia\, Switzerland\, UK and USA. DESCRIPTION:The first day of January is an important day for Belgrade citizens who traditionally celebrate it with friends and neighbors in Svetogorska Street\, on this day known as the Street of an Open Heart. \nAs previous years\, the Manifestation has an important charity aspect. This year donations will go to Belgrade maternity hospitals\, therefore the “Street of an Open Heart beats for babies!” \nThe main program takes place in front of the theatre Atelje 212 where numerous actors\, artists\, musicians and entertainers will perform for visitors. \nTourist Organization of Belgrade will offer post cards with photos of Belgrade\, taken by artist Ivan Stanić\, and all the money gathered from sales will go to charity. \nA special sightseeing program will be organized when an open bus will be available for visitors\, from 12h to 16h\, free of charge\, and will go from Slavija Square to the Republic Square. \nOpen Heart Street has been organized since 1988/89. And is one of the most important events in Belgrade.

DESCRIPTION:The “St. Petersburg Festival Ballet” performs “The Sleeping Beauty “\, on November the 8th at the theater scene of the KOMBANK Arena in Belgrade. \nThe leading St. Petersburg ballet performers from the best troops perform within the “St. Petersburg Festival Ballet”. Prima ballerinas and ballet dancers of the “Sleeping Beauty”\, Suleyman Guzel\, Arkadas Zinovia\, Gulsin Mav Lukasova\, were awarded for their performances many times. \nThe “Sleeping Beauty” by Tchaikovsky\, is the first classical ballet that had its choreography set by the legendary Marius Petipa. It premiered in London on 1921. Since 1939\, „The Sleeping Beauty” is considered an essential part of the regular repertoire on stages around the world and its leading role is a challenge for all the ballerinas. \nTchaikovsky composed wonderful music for a fairy tale about a princess who was awakened by a prince’s kiss\, and the whole magnificently designed stage will take the audience to a magical land. Tchaikovsky himself said that “it is better to see “The Sleeping Beauty” once than to hear it a hundred times.”

SUMMARY:Exhibition "The Breasts of Tiresias"
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “The Breasts of Tiresias” by Slavica Veselinović (Shavi Lavi)\, artist from Ljubljana\, Slovenia\, is being opened on November 3rd 2012 at 8 pm in the gallery of University library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade. \nThe project “The Breasts of Tiresias” consists of 15 photos and 3 photos in combination with graphics. The concept of photos represents the beauty of human body through movement and reflection of emotional states. \nPhotos depict surreal poses of female and male figures\, sensuality\, contrast of darkness and light\, eroticism and innocence. \nThe project was named after the ballet by the French author Guilaume Apollinaira\, Les Mamelles de Tiresias\, who describeh his ballet as something more than reality and for the first time used the word surrealism. \nIn Greek mythology\, Tiresias was a blind prophet famous for clairvoyance and for being transformed into a woman for seven years\, therefore understanding the pleasures of both man and woman. \nIf followed in numerical order the series of acts describes Tiresias’ transformation from male into female and vice versa. \nMale and female bodies face the passion thus creating surrealistic figures which is associated with Tiresias’ transformation into the opposite sex. \nThe exhibition is open for visitors till November 7th at the Gallery of the University library in Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra Street\, no 71.

SUMMARY:"Hannah Arendt" film premiere at the "Free Zone" festival
DESCRIPTION:The film premiere of “Hannah Arendt” by German author Margarete von Trott\, will be shown at the film festival “Free Zone” held from 2nd till 7th of November in Hall of Belgrade Cultural Center and Belgrade Youth Center. \nThe director of the film deals with a crucial period in the life of a woman who is considered one of the most important and most original political thinkers of the twentieth century. The film is set in the period between 1960 and 1964 and describes Hana’s trip to Jerusalem\, the famous trial to the officer and Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann\, as well as Hana’s reporting for the American magazine “The New Yorker” on that trial. \nAmerican writer of Germany and Jewish origin was expecting to find a monster in the defendent\, but she was surprised by Eichmann’s indifference. Thus she created her famous thesis of the “banality of evil” and wrote an article causing a scandal in public. \nThe main role is entrusted to Barbara Sukovoj\, Fassbinder’s diva\, and the world premiere of the film “Hannah Arendt” was held in early September at the International Film Festival in Toronto which is the largest film festival in North America.

DESCRIPTION:Long time expected second edition of the RE:MAKE festival of creative interventions is being organized from October 31st till November 4th at three locations in Belgrade\, under the slogan “Re:set\, Re:think\, Re:create”. \nThis festival of truly unique concept which is engaged in creative interventions in the field of ideas and material\, redesign and recycling attracted so much public and young peoples’ attention during its short period of existence. \nThis year’s Re:Make festival will be opened on October 31st at the Cultural Center Grad with an interesting multimedia performance by the THUS FAR team\, and after a gala cocktail everyone present can enjoy the concerts of the experimental Swiss bands and local DJs. \nDuring next four days participants and visitors of the Re:make festival will have the opportunity to enjoy the rich program on three locations in the city: Cultural Center Grad\, Club Krug and Design incubator Nova Iskra. \nThis year numerous interesting lectures\, presentations\, creative workshops are organized in three areas Re:set\, Re:think and Re:create. \nRe:set is a segment that\, through lectures and workshops\, touches on topics such as ecology\, sustainable development\, healthy living\, the traditional life style as well as recipes and instructions for making various useful things. \nRE:think includes lectures\, debates and workshops that are dedicated to remake of film\, music\, architecture and interior design\, multi media arts\, performing arts\, photography. \nRe:create is the area dedicated to interactive workshops\, dealing with recycling and redesigning of textiles and accessories in fashion\, design of furniture and household items\, as well as creative interventions in the environment. \nBesides rich program the organizers have announced numerous guests from abroad\, also new is the music part of the festival\, which will be implemented in cooperation with the EXIT festival and KC Grad

SUMMARY:Scott H. Biram live at Gun club in Belgrade
DESCRIPTION:The RNR master from Texas\, a “one-man-band” Scott H. Biram is performing live on Saturday\, October 27th\, in the Gun club in Belgrade. Biram’s music is a mixture of several genres: blues\, country blues\, compacted punk\, and heavy metal\, that in the combination with Biram’s unusual growling voice\, represents a true attraction. \nIn last couple of decades performers called “one-man band” have become very popular. This type of music is very specific as one man or woman (“one-woman-band”) write and perform songs\, with no help of bass player\, rhythm guitarist\, drummer\, keyboardist who can cover some mistakes. This type of music is very appreciated for the reason of being so difficult. \nWith time several world performers of this type of music – Bob Log III\, John Schooley and Scott H. Biram have estinguished themselves. \nScott H. Biram has started his music career in the punk band “The Thangs”\, and then he played in two bluegrass bands: Scott H. Biram & The Salt Peter Boys and Bluegrass Drive-By. In 1999 Biram gave up music that requires more people\, and he formed one-man band and the same year he published the first album “This is Kingsbury?”. Followed “Preachin’ & Hollerin” (2002) and “Lo-Fi Mojo” (2003)\, live album of the recorded radio performance in Ostin. \nBesides that\, some of his songs appeared in several films and series: “Blood\, Sweat & Murder”\, than series “My Name Is Earl”\, “Wreck My Car” as well as in the film “The Darwin Awards”. \nTickets can be purchased at all ticket offices of Eventim and at the record store Pinball Wizard Records (Shopping Mall Eurocentar\, Makedonska 30\, office 15). DESCRIPTION:The big concert of the Russian Army Choir “Alexandrov” with Emir Kusturica and his band “The No Smoking Orchestra”\, is being held on October the 26th at 8PM in the Great Hall of the Sava Center. \nThe “Alexandrov” choir is a world famous ensemble that fosters vocal virtuosity\, and their performances arouse special and strong emotions in every audience. “Alexandrov” comprises of soloists\, a chorus\, an orchestra and a dancing ensemble. Its members fascinate with harmony and the capacity of their voices on every performance. \nThe famous film director Emir Kusturica and his “No Smoking Orchestra” will merge their music style with the “Alexandrov” choir that night. This unusual band is known as spontaneous and Balkan-style passionate\, so it will be really interesting to see the combination of the two musical approaches. \nThe concert was scheduled for June the 12th\, but this date has been changed. DESCRIPTION:The Dutch punk band “The Ex” and Macedonian postpunk band “Bernays Propaganda” perform in Belgrade on October the 25th at 8PM in the Cultural Center REX\, within the music warm-up for this year’s “Free Zone” film festival. \nBelgrade concert is a part of the Dutch band’s tour in which they are accompanied by Macedonian “Bernays Propaganda”. \n“The Ex” exists for about 33 years. They started as a true hard core punk band and the band members drew straws to decide who will play which instrument. Today\, they can boast with 26 albums and more than 1500 concerts held in all the continents. \nMacedonian band “Bernays Propaganda” says they play the dance new wave/post-punk music\, but they are actually a real pearl of rock’n’roll in the Balkans. They were named after Edward Bernays\, the man who established the Public Relations business\, and they are characterized by clearly defined critical attitude toward the modern world. \nTicket price is 400 RSD. DESCRIPTION:From 21 st till 28 th of October\, the Belgrade Book Fair is being held for the 57th time in the Belgrade Fair. The stars of the Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater\, Russian Army Choir “Alexandrov” and soloists from the Russian Federation and Serbia will sing the most beautiful songs of Russia. \nBelgrade was liberated by the National Liberation Movement of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Red Army in the Belgrade Offensive\, one of the largest and most important battles in the Balkans during World War II. \nThe concert participants are: Petr Glubokiy – who is the “imperial bass” of the Bolshoi Theater for 40 years now\, Konstantin Shushakov – the young star of the Bolshoi Theater with lavish\, aristocratic baritone\, Sergey Putilin – the “golden tenor” of the “Alexandrov”ensemble\, and Ivanna – a famous Russian folk singer\, some of whose songs are written by Goran Bregovic \, the famous musician from this region. \nSince Serbian singers performed numerous Russian songs with great success\, they will join the Russian colleagues on stage. That night we’ll see the performances of the Radiotelevision of Serbia’s Folk Ensemble & Branimir Djokić with Snežana Savčić-Sekulić\, Merima Njegomir\, Jelena Tomašević\, Tanja Andrić\, Oliver Njego and the “King Peter I” choir as their guests. \nTicket prices are 1200\, 1600 and 2000 RSD\, and can be bought at the Sava Center ticket office and at all the authorized sales offices of CS Eventim\, as well as at the ticket offices of Belgrade Youth Centre (Dom omladine)\, Ušće Shopping Mall and at Belgrade Ticket Office (Bilet centar).

DESCRIPTION:“Belgrade Music Festival” (BEMUS)will host the famous Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia on October the 18th. Guitar virtuoso will remind the Belgrade audience of his old hits. The concert in the Great Hall of the Sava Center starts at 8 PM. \nPaco de Lucia is a synonym for flamenco guitar and also one of the most original artists of this genre. In a career that lasts for decades\, Paco de Lucia has spread the glory of the flamenco music worldwide. \nHe has worked with some of the most famous musicians of our time\, such as the pianist Chick Corea\, the guitar players like John McLaughlin\, Larry Coryell and Al Di Meola\, as well as a with the famous Bryan Adams\, with whom he collaborated on the soundtrack for „ Don Juan de Marco“ film. \nThe first concert in Serbia\, Paco de Lucia held in 2010. on the Guitar Art Festival\, and he is currently working on a new album. \nThe ticket prices are 1800\, 2300\, 2800\, 3200 RSD. \nThe 44th Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS) is being organized from October the 11th till October the 21st on several locations in the city\, under the slogan “The Siege of Belgrade”. BEMUS was founded in 1969 and is the one of the oldest music festivals in the country.
