SUMMARY:Exhibition "Giant insects and prehistoric sea beasts"
DESCRIPTION:The unique exhibition that will be displayed for the first time outside Germany was opened by the end of June at Ada Ciganlija and it will be opened till August 30th. \nAround 40 showpieces\, including 18 giant insects and 20 sea beasts\, are exhibited at the area covering 7\,000 square meters. \nVisitors have the unique opportunity to see oversized models of mostly known species of insects thus making it much easier to observe some details that in nature couldn’t possibly be seen. \nThe models of sea beasts will leave everyone breathless and will give us a comprehensive picture about these unusual creatures that once ruled the world seas. \nDuring the exhibition\, visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in different workshops and attend numerous lectures. \n  \nPhoto: www.beograd.rs

SUMMARY:Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world
DESCRIPTION:The artifacts found at the oldest urban settlement in Europe will be exhibited in the Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade till October. \nThe exhibition “Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world” will be opened for visitors in the Atrium of the National Museum till October\, presenting the artifacts found at the site of the oldest urban settlement in Central Balkans. \nThis site in Serbia was discovered after a decade of archeological explorations – the archaeological site of Kale\, in Krševica near the town of Bujanovac. \nNumerous remains of buildings\, furnaces\, pottery\, as well as parts of unique system of water supply from the 4th century B.C. were found at the surface of 5 acres. The entire necropolis was organized according to Greek models\, and it was inhabited during the time of Alexander the Great. \nPieces of pottery exhibited in the National Museum are well preserved\, and they all have stamps of workshops from across the Aegean\, Thasos and the city of Menda in Halkidiki. \nThis site is unique in Europe not only for the traces of the era of Alexander the Great\, but also the traces of the Celts were also found here. They lived here by the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd century A.D.

SUMMARY:World Press Photo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The World Press Photo Exhibition will take place from 3rd to 17th of July in the Studio M in Novi Sad (Ignjata Pavlasa Street\, 3)\, under the auspices of the Royal Netherlands Embassy\, exhibiting this year’s winning photos. \nThis year the Exhibition will present 160 winning photos from around 100 destinations from around the world. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the first winning photo of the Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda – the portrait of a veiled woman holding a wounded relative in her arms after a demonstration in Yemen\, which was published in the “New York Times.” Also\, visitors will have the opportunity to see the winning photos in all nine categories. \nThe World Press Photo Exhibition is a unique traveling exhibition of the winning photos of the annual press photography contest organized by the World Press Photo\, a nonprofit organization from Amsterdam. The international jury composed of 19 members elected the best photos in nine categories. SUMMARY:Civil Modernism and Popular Culture
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade\, at the Gallery-Legacy of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković (Rodoljuba Čolakovića St. 2)\, presents the exhibition of art works entitled “Civil Modernism and Popular Culture” from July 4th till September 3rd. The exhibition is organized in order to point out the role of modern and fashionable in the construction of civil identity of the Serbian society. \nBy the end of World War I\, the Serbian civil society went through a proces of rapid growth\, modernization and Europeanization. The new style of urban population could be seen in public spaces but even more at the places for entertainment. \nThose were the indicators of new intrests\, modern and fashionable events\, as well as one different lifestyle and recreational activities. The elite does not offer us the most realistic image of a society\, instead its value system is best observed through mass culture. The exhibition will highlight the interweaving of these two cultures. \nThe exhibition is presenting about 50 art works (paintings\, drawings\, posters\, photographs\, films…) of numerous authors: Paja Jovanović\, Sava Šumanović\, Petar Dobrović\, Ivan Radović\, Miloš Golubović\, Zora Petrović\, Vasa Pomorišac\, Ivan Tabaković\, Natalija Cvetković\, Bogdan Šuput\, Mladen Josić\, Kosta Hakman\, Milan Konjović\, Milena Pavlović Barili\, Veljko Stanojević\, Dušan Janković and others. \nThis exhibition premiered in 2011\, when it was declared the best exhibition of the year in Serbia by the Association of Art Historians. \n  \nPhoto: www.msub.org.rs

SUMMARY:Tvrđava teatar 2012 (Fortress theater)
DESCRIPTION:This year’s ambient theater festival “Tvrđava teatar” (Fortress Theatre) is being held from July 11th till July 20th under the slogan “Pan teatricum”. \nPlays created in a variety of modern\, authentic directorial approaches and manuscripts\, and based on texts of all genres of drama in the time span of half a millennium\, will be performed at the Smederevo Fortress under the clear night sky. \nThe play “Transition” performed by the theatre Pan opticum from Germany is opening the Festival on July 11th. \nIt is being followed by the plays “Kanjoš Macedonović” by the Belgrade National Theatre\, “Noć u kafani Titanik” (Night at the Titanic pub) by the theatre from Kragujevac\, “Zbogom SFRJ” (Goodby SFRY) by Atelje 212\, the play “Bunar” (Well)\, “Višnjik” (The Cherry Orchard) by Chekhov and “Ja sam vetar” (I am the wind) by Jun Fose and directed by Stevan Bodroža. \nAwards for the best play\, direction and actor will be awarded at the festival. \nThe Festival also gathers young people from France\, Germany and Serbia who will be working with the French director Alban Varet on the international youth production of street theatre on the theme of cultural diversity as a wealth of European identity. The play is a part of the project IDEAL supported by the European Union through the program “Podrška civilnom društvu” (Support to civil society). \nPlays will be performed at the Small and the Big Town at the Smederevo Fortress and at Republic Square. DESCRIPTION:From August 8th\, film and photography fans will have the opportunity to see interesting moments from behind the film camera immortalized by photographer Vladimir Andjić who is bringing us this rare “insider” view on film. Different connections between photography and film represent the core of this exhibition. \nAleksandar Andjić has worked as photo reporter in numerous daily newspaper and has never been an official film photographer\, but the curious nature of photo reporter took him to numerous film sets of our feature and documentary films where he managed to catch numerous moments\, the same way he did in other spheres like politics\, economy\, culture\, art\, public and private life. \nThis “unexpected guest” at film sets of films by Slobodan Šijan\, Goran Paskaljević\, Miloš Radović\, Goran Marković\, Boris Mitić and Dragan Marinković\, has managed to capture “the essence” of film making and to make a photo exhibition worth of seeing. \n  \nPhoto: www.kcb.org.rs

DESCRIPTION:Summer in Lido features rich sports and recreational programs that will take place during the summer season at the Lido beach till August 31st. The manifestation includes the performances of young unestablished bands\, performance and dance companies. \nOn Saturday\, July 14th\, the members of the dance school “Baila con Migo” will be dancing salsa on the sandy beach of Lido. In the evening\, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the public lesson of Zumba at 6 pm. Milenko Ćurčin will host the program. \nThe dance school “Baila con Migo” performs again on Saturday\, July 21st\, with the beginning at 15 o’clock\, while a “Zumbatomik” is being organized for the youngest ones on the beach from 17.30 till 15. SUMMARY:European Film Festival Palić
DESCRIPTION:At several locations in Subotica and Palić\, from 14 to 20 July\, the 19th European Film Festival Palić is being held. \nThis year’s special guest of the festival is Anthony Giddens\, one of the most important sociologists of modern day. He will participate in the debate on “Climate Change and Politics\,” which takes place 15th July in Conference Room Small inns in Palic\, at 10 hours. \nFilms will this year be shown in several selections: Official selection\, Parallels and Encounters\, Young spirit of Europe\, Underground Spirit Award\, New Swedish Film\, New Hungarian Film\, Eco Documentaries\, Children’s Program\, Hommage Program and Special Screening. \nThe Official selection will present films of such great directors like Christian Petzold\, Srdjan Dragojević\, Cristian Mungiu\, Timo Vuorensola\, Ulrich Seidl and others. \nThe Parallels and Encounters program brings a very successful film “Clip” by a young Serbian director Maja Miloš\, the latest film by a famous Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska\, but also promising new works of authors like Rainer Sarnet from Estonia or Gabriel Achim from Romania. \nThe highlight of this year’s “New Swedish films” program is a film named “Beyond”\, a directoral debut of a celebrated Swedish actress Pernilla August with incredible Noomi Rapace\, while “New Hungarian Film” brings the lastest film by a legendary director Istvan Szabo and great filmmakers like Atila Till\, Marcell Jankovics\, Judit Elek\, Peter Bergendy and others. \n\nPalić International Film Festival was founded 20 years ago. From the earliest small and unpretentious film screenings in Palić\, through the persistent attempts to create a serious regional film festival in hard times and the first attempts at getting closer to the cinematography of the former Yugoslav republics\, it has grown into an important destination on the map of film festivals in Europe. In the year 2003\, with its 10th edition\, it became a European Film Festival and a member of the European Coordination of Film Festivals. \nToday the European Film Festival Palić is one of the most important film festivals in this region and one of the few in the world with 100% European content. \n

SUMMARY:Guns 'n' Roses at Exit Festival
DESCRIPTION:The legendary rock band from Los Angeles\, Guns ‘n’ Roses\, will perform on this year’s EXIT Festival on July 15th on the main stage\, performing the cult hits from the 80-ties and the 90-ties\, as well as songs from their latest album “Chinese Democracy”. \nFestivalgoers will have the opportunity to see the heroes of several generations\, the band Guns ‘n’ Roses\, on the main stage where they will perform on July the 15th. \nLed by the icon of rock ‘n’ roll culture\, Axl Rose\, the band will perform some of their biggest hits\, and songs from the latest album “Chinese Democracy” from 2008. \nThe band is preparing their seventh album with tons of new material\, so the fans can hope for a premier performance of some new hits. \nThis is not the first time the band is performing in Serbia\, GnR held a concert in 2010 in Belgrade Arena promoting the then current album “Chinese Democracy”. \n\n  \nAt the moment the GnR are Axl Rose (vocals\, piano)\, Dizzy Reed (keyboards\, piano\, synthesizer\, backing vocals)\, Tommy Stinson (bass\, backing vocals)\, Chris Pitman (keyboards\, backing vocals)\, Richard Fortus (guitar)\, Frank Ferrer (drums\, percussion) and Ron Thal (guitar). \nGuns ‘n’ Roses gained world fame in the 80-ties and the early 90-ties with the music that is the mixture of hard rock\, blues rock\, heavy metal and glam metal. Their debut album “Appetite for Destruction” from 1987 became one of the best-selling debut albums ever. The Drina Regatta is the most visited tourist and recreation manifestation and the central event in the Western Serbia. This year’s 19th regatta will offer a rich side program like in previous years. \nBeside sports and recreational programs\, the organizers have announced the concerts of famous bands – Legende\, Kerber\, Zabranjeno pušenje\, Beogradski sindikat\, Darkwood dub and Eyesburn. \nThe regatta starts on July 19th at 4 pm with the competition in preparing fish soup. The program continues with the Games without borders on Perućac Lake and the competition in swimming across the lake. In the evening visitors will enjoy the concert of the famous band Legende at the square in Bajina Bašta. \nThe second day of the regatta seems to promise even more fun. After the display of vessels on the Drina River at 4 pm and jumping from the bridge\, follows the traditional MOST FEST – at the confluence of the Rača into the Drina\, with the performances of the bend Kerber from Niš and the band Eyesburn. \nThe third day of the regatta on July 21st is reserved for the central event – the race begins at 11 am with hundreds of vessels and crews\, accompanied by the brass band\, floating bar\, music raft\, barbeque raft. We mustn’t forget swimming in the river as well. The MOST FEST continues in the evening with the performances of Zabranjeno pušenje\, Beogradski sindikat and Darkwood dub. \nAlso the health and recreation fair will be organized during the regatta at the square in Bajina Bašta. \nThe competition of young and pioneer brass bands from the Western Serbia and the Moravica District and the Raška district is taking place on the last day of the manifestation. Another two films out of the competition will be presented to the audience. \nThe official program includes the films “Obrt” (Turnover) by Srdjan Stojanović from Belgrade\, “To moram” (I have to do that) by Branko Radaković from Bač\, “Filozof iz našeg sokaka” (Philosopher from our street) by the professor Dragan Krstić and Vladimir Karadžić from Subotica\, “Putevima Tibora Sekelja” (Following Tibor Sekelj) by Stipan Milodanović from Subotica\, “Potpisani” (The Signed) – the second episode “Šifra” (Code) and the third episode “Voz” (Train) by Marko Kovač from Belgrade\, and “Hipnoza” (Hypnosis) by Kosta Marinković from Gornji Milanovac. \nThe film on the last year’s Review – “60’” by Miroslav Nikolić and Bata Petrović\, also the author of the film “Srpski mjuzikl – 60’” (Serbian musical – 60’)\, will be presented at the Festival. \n“Serbian Holywood” is a work of young enthusiast Ivan Jakovljević\, called Ivo-Car. The “Holywood” sign is set on a hill above the Ibar highway\, 105 km from Belgrade.

DESCRIPTION:Terratorija – exhibition of art works set in public spaces is being opened on July 29th at 19.00 at the Republic Square as a part of the Belgrade Summer Festival – BELEF. \nStarting on August 15th works of the artists working on the project “Terra” will be exhibited at Republic Square and other public areas. \nThree renowned artists are making wooden sculptures that will be exhibited on public spaces from August 3rd till August 15th. \nThis type of art was forgotten over a decade ago after the closing of the wood workshop on Ada Ciganlija. That makes this project extremely significant for Belgrade and art in general. \nThe first stage of the project took place in Jun when 70 young artists from Serbia and abroad produced terracotta sculptures in this workshop. SUMMARY:The Frajle at "Novi Sad Music Summer"
DESCRIPTION:Charismatic girls with captivating vocals\, better known as the Frajle\, will be performing on July 29th\, in the garden of the “Srednjoškolski dom”\, within the program of the manifestation “Novi Sad Music Summer”. DESCRIPTION:Baskerfest at Belef takes place from August 2nd till August 5th and presents performances of several street theatre groups from around Europe. DJ Kind of Men – Predrag Jevtić\, representative of hard electro and minimal sound\, will be performing that same day. \nThe second day of Supernatural Festival\, August 4th\, is reserved for a performance of Braća Burazeri\, both prominent designers and DJs. \nThe last day of the music program is reserved for DJ Filip who introduces public to new tendencies of electro music and hybrids of rock culture through his DJ sets. \nThis day is also dedicated to education. Different workshops about natural resources\, with special emphasis on the Danube\, will take place at Ada Huja. Also there is a green market being organized in Supernatural Park\, promoting the value of healthy eating and organic agriculture\, as well as promotion of plants\, flowers and trees.

SUMMARY:Slovak National Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Traditional Slovak National Celebration takes place from August 3rd till August 5th in Bački Petrovac. For over a half of century this town has played host to the Assembly of Slovaks from around the world. This manifestation takes place traditionally each year during the first weekend in August. \nTop Slovak ensembles and artists from numerous countries participate in the manifestation and present all the beauty and diversity of Slovak customs. \nBesides concerts of folklore ensembles\, several painting exhibitions\, there are also book presentations\, exhibition of vintage children toys\, fishing and hunting competitions\, event of preparing the mutton stew\, as well as numerous different side events. \nDifferent manifestations that announce and follow Slovak National Celebration take place in July. \nJuly 21st is reserved for a Soccer Tournament for the trophy of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Lalić. \nKulpin will also play host to different manifestations introducing the Slovak National Celebration from July 27th till July 29th\, among which Kulpin FEST is the most significant. It will host several famous local bands – Lude Krawe\, Ritam nereda\, Ortodox Celts\, Neozbiljni pesimisti\, Proces\, as well as guests from Romania – Ultimu Nivel\, Po kratkom postupku and Dok 7.

DESCRIPTION:One of the most visited music festivals in Central Serbia\, Love Fest\, is being organized from August 3rd till August 5th on the Summer Stage in Vrnjačka Banja. This electronic music orientated festival aims to promote this music genre in this part of the country. \nOn the first day of the Festival\, the Main Tuborg Stage will host the famous DJ James Zabiela\, known for mixture of ambient and techno sound\, followed by German DJ Alex Nigeman\, and Serbian DJ Miloš Pavlović\, who will be presenting his work to the audience. \nThe Danish DJ Noir\, one of the noticeable and famous DJs in the electro music industry\, is performing on the Main Tuborg Stage. SUMMARY:Contemporary Russian painting in Zrenjanin
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Contemporary Russian Painters from the town of Obninsk” in the Zrenjanin National Museum will present around 50 works by 8 painters who have found their creative refuge in this town 70 kilometers from the city of Moscow. \nThe opening of the exhibition is announced for Friday\, August 3rd at 19.00\, and the exhibition will be opened till August 13th. \nArtists like Aleksandr Pavlovich Shubin and Denisova Tatiana Vasilevna have had numerous solo exhibitions over decades\, but on this occasion they will be presenting their works at this group exhibition. \nThe uniqueness of Galicin Sergei Aleksandrovich and Denisova Yelena Vladimirovna is their work on frescoes in Orthodox churches and temples. \nAmong others\, works of Denisov Vladimir Sergeyevich\, the author of Alexander Pushkin Monument in the National Park in Belkin\, and Galicina Anastasia Aleksandrovna\, the laureate of the Afanasi Kulikov Award\, will also be exhibited. \n
