SUMMARY:Memory Update - Ornaments of Serbian Medieval Frescoes
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Applied Art stages the exhibition “Memory Update – Ornaments of Serbian Medieval Frescoes” on the 6th of November 2013 to mark this year’s anniversary of its founding. The exhibition will be open until 31st January 2014.\nAn interest in ornament as particular visual and semantic\, as well as a linguistic phenomenon becomes more and more increasing in the visualization world of all segments of modern communication. An ornament is often used as a decoration\, a pattern\, a decorative detail in applied art and architecture but it also bears a broadest span of symbolical\, culturological and religious meanings that are susceptible to various analyses and even mathematical reading and interpretation. \nAlmost 500 tables with copies of ornaments from Serbian medieval frescoes will be displayed. Last time they were exhibited in 1961 in honour of the Congress of Byzantine Studies that took place the same year in Belgrade. The body of five hundred seventy two ornaments was left to the Museum as exquisite ornamental treasure. \nAuthor of the exhibition is Dušan Milovanović\, a museum advisor at the Museum of Applied Art in Belgrade\, and the author of the exhibition design is Ivan Mangov\, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Art and Design\, Megatrend University. \nFpr more information visit: www.mpu.rs/english/index.html \n

SUMMARY:8th Ethnic Food and Drink Fair
DESCRIPTION:Ethnic Food and Drink Fair\, the largest traditional product manufacturer show\, intended for the markets of Serbia and Southeast Europe Region is taking place from 26th to 29th November on Belgrade Fair.\nAbout 300 manufacturers will participate in the 8th Ethnic Food and Drink Fair and more than 1000 various products\, mostly hand made from organic raw materials\, will feature at the participants’ stands. \nThe goal of the Fair is affirmation of the traditional products as the first class market and export goods and a significant tourist offer element\, the increase of number of products with the protected geographic origin: Leskovac Ajvar (Red Cream Salad)\, Kačarski and Homolje Honey\, ‘Tobacco Cracklings’\, Futog Cabbage and others\, advancing of food culture and population health\, tradition and cultural identity keeping. \n

SUMMARY:Auteur Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Auteur Film Festival will be held from 28th November to 3rd December in Belgrade at several locations: Youth Center of Belgrade\, Belgrade Cultural Center\, the Museum of Yugoslav Film Archive\, the Cultural Center “Studentski grad” as well as in “Fontana” cinema.\nThe program of the festival\, which traditionally displays artistic works best films from all around the world and favorites of prestigious international film festivals\, this year has 16 film achievements. Ten achievements are in the selection of the “Aleksandar Saša Petrović” award for the best film. \nThe main program of this year Festival includes films that have won awards for the best achievements in film festivals in Berlin and Venice. \nFollowing program оf the festival will be held at the Museum of Yugoslav Film Archive and the Belgrade Youth Centre. \n
