SUMMARY:Exhibition "Giant insects and prehistoric sea beasts"
DESCRIPTION:The unique exhibition that will be displayed for the first time outside Germany was opened by the end of June at Ada Ciganlija and it will be opened till August 30th. \nAround 40 showpieces\, including 18 giant insects and 20 sea beasts\, are exhibited at the area covering 7\,000 square meters. \nVisitors have the unique opportunity to see oversized models of mostly known species of insects thus making it much easier to observe some details that in nature couldn’t possibly be seen. \nThe models of sea beasts will leave everyone breathless and will give us a comprehensive picture about these unusual creatures that once ruled the world seas. \nDuring the exhibition\, visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in different workshops and attend numerous lectures. \n  \nPhoto: www.beograd.rs

SUMMARY:Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world
DESCRIPTION:The artifacts found at the oldest urban settlement in Europe will be exhibited in the Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade till October. \nThe exhibition “Central Balkan between the Greek and the Celtic world” will be opened for visitors in the Atrium of the National Museum till October\, presenting the artifacts found at the site of the oldest urban settlement in Central Balkans. \nThis site in Serbia was discovered after a decade of archeological explorations – the archaeological site of Kale\, in Krševica near the town of Bujanovac. \nNumerous remains of buildings\, furnaces\, pottery\, as well as parts of unique system of water supply from the 4th century B.C. were found at the surface of 5 acres. The entire necropolis was organized according to Greek models\, and it was inhabited during the time of Alexander the Great. \nPieces of pottery exhibited in the National Museum are well preserved\, and they all have stamps of workshops from across the Aegean\, Thasos and the city of Menda in Halkidiki. \nThis site is unique in Europe not only for the traces of the era of Alexander the Great\, but also the traces of the Celts were also found here. They lived here by the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd century A.D.

SUMMARY:Civil Modernism and Popular Culture
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade\, at the Gallery-Legacy of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković (Rodoljuba Čolakovića St. 2)\, presents the exhibition of art works entitled “Civil Modernism and Popular Culture” from July 4th till September 3rd. The exhibition is organized in order to point out the role of modern and fashionable in the construction of civil identity of the Serbian society. \nBy the end of World War I\, the Serbian civil society went through a proces of rapid growth\, modernization and Europeanization. The new style of urban population could be seen in public spaces but even more at the places for entertainment. \nThose were the indicators of new intrests\, modern and fashionable events\, as well as one different lifestyle and recreational activities. The elite does not offer us the most realistic image of a society\, instead its value system is best observed through mass culture. The exhibition will highlight the interweaving of these two cultures. \nThe exhibition is presenting about 50 art works (paintings\, drawings\, posters\, photographs\, films…) of numerous authors: Paja Jovanović\, Sava Šumanović\, Petar Dobrović\, Ivan Radović\, Miloš Golubović\, Zora Petrović\, Vasa Pomorišac\, Ivan Tabaković\, Natalija Cvetković\, Bogdan Šuput\, Mladen Josić\, Kosta Hakman\, Milan Konjović\, Milena Pavlović Barili\, Veljko Stanojević\, Dušan Janković and others. \nThis exhibition premiered in 2011\, when it was declared the best exhibition of the year in Serbia by the Association of Art Historians. \n  \nPhoto: www.msub.org.rs

SUMMARY:Tvrđava teatar 2012 (Fortress theater)
DESCRIPTION:This year’s ambient theater festival “Tvrđava teatar” (Fortress Theatre) is being held from July 11th till July 20th under the slogan “Pan teatricum”. \nPlays created in a variety of modern\, authentic directorial approaches and manuscripts\, and based on texts of all genres of drama in the time span of half a millennium\, will be performed at the Smederevo Fortress under the clear night sky. \nThe play “Transition” performed by the theatre Pan opticum from Germany is opening the Festival on July 11th. \nIt is being followed by the plays “Kanjoš Macedonović” by the Belgrade National Theatre\, “Noć u kafani Titanik” (Night at the Titanic pub) by the theatre from Kragujevac\, “Zbogom SFRJ” (Goodby SFRY) by Atelje 212\, the play “Bunar” (Well)\, “Višnjik” (The Cherry Orchard) by Chekhov and “Ja sam vetar” (I am the wind) by Jun Fose and directed by Stevan Bodroža. \nAwards for the best play\, direction and actor will be awarded at the festival. \nThe Festival also gathers young people from France\, Germany and Serbia who will be working with the French director Alban Varet on the international youth production of street theatre on the theme of cultural diversity as a wealth of European identity. The play is a part of the project IDEAL supported by the European Union through the program “Podrška civilnom društvu” (Support to civil society). \nPlays will be performed at the Small and the Big Town at the Smederevo Fortress and at Republic Square. DESCRIPTION:From August 8th\, film and photography fans will have the opportunity to see interesting moments from behind the film camera immortalized by photographer Vladimir Andjić who is bringing us this rare “insider” view on film. Different connections between photography and film represent the core of this exhibition. \nAleksandar Andjić has worked as photo reporter in numerous daily newspaper and has never been an official film photographer\, but the curious nature of photo reporter took him to numerous film sets of our feature and documentary films where he managed to catch numerous moments\, the same way he did in other spheres like politics\, economy\, culture\, art\, public and private life. \nThis “unexpected guest” at film sets of films by Slobodan Šijan\, Goran Paskaljević\, Miloš Radović\, Goran Marković\, Boris Mitić and Dragan Marinković\, has managed to capture “the essence” of film making and to make a photo exhibition worth of seeing. \n  \nPhoto: www.kcb.org.rs

DESCRIPTION:Summer in Lido features rich sports and recreational programs that will take place during the summer season at the Lido beach till August 31st. The manifestation includes the performances of young unestablished bands\, performance and dance companies. \nOn Saturday\, July 14th\, the members of the dance school “Baila con Migo” will be dancing salsa on the sandy beach of Lido. In the evening\, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the public lesson of Zumba at 6 pm. Milenko Ćurčin will host the program. \nThe dance school “Baila con Migo” performs again on Saturday\, July 21st\, with the beginning at 15 o’clock\, while a “Zumbatomik” is being organized for the youngest ones on the beach from 17.30 till 15. SUMMARY:European Film Festival Palić
DESCRIPTION:At several locations in Subotica and Palić\, from 14 to 20 July\, the 19th European Film Festival Palić is being held. \nThis year’s special guest of the festival is Anthony Giddens\, one of the most important sociologists of modern day. He will participate in the debate on “Climate Change and Politics\,” which takes place 15th July in Conference Room Small inns in Palic\, at 10 hours. \nFilms will this year be shown in several selections: Official selection\, Parallels and Encounters\, Young spirit of Europe\, Underground Spirit Award\, New Swedish Film\, New Hungarian Film\, Eco Documentaries\, Children’s Program\, Hommage Program and Special Screening. \nThe Official selection will present films of such great directors like Christian Petzold\, Srdjan Dragojević\, Cristian Mungiu\, Timo Vuorensola\, Ulrich Seidl and others. \nThe Parallels and Encounters program brings a very successful film “Clip” by a young Serbian director Maja Miloš\, the latest film by a famous Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska\, but also promising new works of authors like Rainer Sarnet from Estonia or Gabriel Achim from Romania. \nThe highlight of this year’s “New Swedish films” program is a film named “Beyond”\, a directoral debut of a celebrated Swedish actress Pernilla August with incredible Noomi Rapace\, while “New Hungarian Film” brings the lastest film by a legendary director Istvan Szabo and great filmmakers like Atila Till\, Marcell Jankovics\, Judit Elek\, Peter Bergendy and others. \n\nPalić International Film Festival was founded 20 years ago. From the earliest small and unpretentious film screenings in Palić\, through the persistent attempts to create a serious regional film festival in hard times and the first attempts at getting closer to the cinematography of the former Yugoslav republics\, it has grown into an important destination on the map of film festivals in Europe. In the year 2003\, with its 10th edition\, it became a European Film Festival and a member of the European Coordination of Film Festivals. \nToday the European Film Festival Palić is one of the most important film festivals in this region and one of the few in the world with 100% European content. \n

SUMMARY:The Drina Regatta Bajina Bašta
DESCRIPTION:The Drina Regatta in Bajina Bašta is being organized from July 19th till July 21st. The Drina Regatta is the most visited tourist and recreation manifestation and the central event in the Western Serbia. This year’s 19th regatta will offer a rich side program like in previous years. \nBeside sports and recreational programs\, the organizers have announced the concerts of famous bands – Legende\, Kerber\, Zabranjeno pušenje\, Beogradski sindikat\, Darkwood dub and Eyesburn. \nThe regatta starts on July 19th at 4 pm with the competition in preparing fish soup. The program continues with the Games without borders on Perućac Lake and the competition in swimming across the lake. In the evening visitors will enjoy the concert of the famous band Legende at the square in Bajina Bašta. \nThe second day of the regatta seems to promise even more fun. After the display of vessels on the Drina River at 4 pm and jumping from the bridge\, follows the traditional MOST FEST – at the confluence of the Rača into the Drina\, with the performances of the bend Kerber from Niš and the band Eyesburn. \nThe third day of the regatta on July 21st is reserved for the central event – the race begins at 11 am with hundreds of vessels and crews\, accompanied by the brass band\, floating bar\, music raft\, barbeque raft. We mustn’t forget swimming in the river as well. The MOST FEST continues in the evening with the performances of Zabranjeno pušenje\, Beogradski sindikat and Darkwood dub. \nAlso the health and recreation fair will be organized during the regatta at the square in Bajina Bašta. \nThe competition of young and pioneer brass bands from the Western Serbia and the Moravica District and the Raška district is taking place on the last day of the manifestation. DESCRIPTION:The 10th Summer3p Festival of electronic music is being organized from July 19th till July 22nd at Palić Lake near Subotica. The Thermal pool and “Muški štrand” (Male Bath or beach) at Palić will host some of the most prominent performers of the Electronic music scene in Europe and the region. \nThis year’s festival will host\, among others\, Hedflux from England\, Kassey Voorn from Greece\, Gorje Hewek from Russia\, Mladen Tomić from Bosnia and Herzegovina. \nThe famous Russian DJ Gorje Hewek will be performing on the first day of the Festival\, July 19th\, followed by Roby Deep from Slovenia and Brajan and Timika from Srbije. \nSteve Young aka Hedflux and Palotai and Vida G from Hungary will be entertaining the festivalgoers with the combination of tech-funk on the second day of the Festival. \nKassey Voon will be performing on the third day\, July 21st. SUMMARY:Green Days Eco Festival 2012
DESCRIPTION:The first festival joining ecology and music – Green Days Fest\, is taking place on Friday\, July 20th\, and Saturday\, July 21st\, at the quay on the Tamiš River in Pančevo. The festival will be hosting famous world and local bands and performers: Dr Feelgood\, Van Gogh\, Vlatko Stefanovski\, SevdahBaby and others. \nThe first day of the festival is reserved for the Ecology Fair with the beginning at 12.00. DESCRIPTION:The band Neverne bebe are performing at Kalemegdan within „Belef 2012 – Festival of all Festivals“ on Friday\, Jul 20th at 21.30. The Belgrade audience will have the opportunity to enjoy some new and some old singles of this band popular among almost all generations in the exYu region. \nThe manifestation “Belef on Kališ”\, in collaboration with Beogradska kulturna mreža\, is taking place during three weekends (from July 6th till July 22nd) in the trench behind the Military Museum on Kalemegdan with several concerts and DJ performances. The entrance for all events is free. \nThe concerts start at 21.30 on the stage set behind the Military Museum. \nBelef is Belgrade Summer Multimedia Festival taking place on the open scene and different alternative sites in the city. DESCRIPTION:One of several promo parties announcing this year’s Love Fest – Electro Music Festival is scheduled for July 20th and 21st in “Zastavina bašta” in Kragujevac. House music and Love Fest fans will be enjoying the performances of Soul and DJ Ian Polley. \nThe Love Fest promo party on July 20th is hosting DJ Fakir from Novi Sad\, as well as DJ Fascenario\, while the audience will have the opportunity to hear Nikola Vemić\, the famous DJ from Kraljevo\, DJ Dimiz from Niš and DJ Nikola Milić on the second promo party schaduled for July 21st. The audience will also enjoy the music of two DJ from Kragujevac\, winners of the LoveFest contest “Mlade nade” (Young DJ). \nThe ticket for both Love Fest promo parties can be purchased at the price of 500 RSD\, and the tickets for all three days of Love Fest\, held for the 6th time in Vrnjačka Banja\, can be purchased at the promotional prices of 999 RSD. \nLove Fest is a music festival that has been organized each summer since 2007 at the Summer Stage in Vrnjačka Banja. The Festival has hosted numerous top electro music DJs.
